why do expats never go home?

many i have met who abhor the idea of ever going back to live in their home country again.

this is not mere reverse culture shock.

several have ended up in thailand, china or australia or some other place that gives them solace but all have the general idea of 'the states man, fukked up, no way. got the politics, gun rights, ultra hypersensitivity to homosexuals, god lovers....' 'oz fukk that, too many taxes. bunch of yobbos'

    why is that?

some of the nicest expats i have met abroad.

Seems like you've listed the reasons they don't want to go back.

Personally speaking, I feel that I have seen everything worth seeing in the UK and it seems that the few things I did enjoy are being ruined anyway.

a friend of mine got her thai husband knocked back last year...she had to go back alone to have their kid

she had to come back over here for a holiday just for him to see his new son...he was 4 months old before he was able to see him...

she's involved in some sort of class action at the moment

I don't think anyone really enjoys living in the UK full time just not a fun place anymore compared to how I remember the 80's and 90's, probably ok if you're just visiting for a month or so in the Summer but the place generally sucks, if wasn't for my daughter I wouldn't be here and as soon as her education is finished I'm out of here never to return.

That's the choice you have to make, obviously the rules are fuked up these days and as always the government goes after the wrong people but they are what they are and while none of us should be forced to jump through hoops for the basic human right of being able to live with your family, with a bit of creative writing and planning the rules are easily overcome.

No need for a pm, it's just common sense, if you know you don't satisfy the criteria then don't waste time and money putting the application in knowing it will get knocked back.

First off make sure you are aware and understand what requirements you and your partner are not satisfying in order to obtain a settlement visa and work from there, the most common one being the new requirement that you need a job paying x amount a year (not applicable 5 years ago when I went through it), this is where being creative comes in as a letter offering a job will suffice presuming of course it will satisfy various checks.......The other common problem being having suitable accommodation if you don't own your own gaff back in the UK, again be creative contact estate agents get an email sent with a contract saying you'll be renting so and so gaff starting on said date for x amount a month.

why do expats never go home?

I of course can only speak from my own experience but I remain here because of the many business opportunities which means I am constantly working on new interesting projects which is what I love to do.

And welcome back sweety. Hope you have a great Christmas.

The problem with your friend is that she obviously put in an original application that didn't satisfy the requirements hence the knock back and now she's appealing which will take forever and no guarantee of success much better to get the application right first time. How most people fuk up is that they think because they are British and got married that their partner should automatically have the right to live in Britain with them maybe a fair assumption but unfortunately the law doesn't see it that way and it's the law that matters, so people put in a shit application thinking it's their right and get told no.

Everything done by computer these days, no human element in determining applications but again this can work in your favour as all the computer wants to see is all the boxes ticked, so you meet the criteria in which ever creative way you have managed to do so then all good.
