With the Olympic opening ceremony in Beijing just a few days away, what hopes are there for Thailand's athletes achieving that prestigious gold medal?

A while ago Tennis appeared to be a sport where Thais could compete on the international stage, but since Paradorn Srichaphan got married to a former Miss Univers last year (not sure if it's related) his rankings have fallen and he has suffered a severe loss in form.

At the Wimbledon tennis tournament this year, we saw the emergence of the highly promising prospect of Noppawan Lertcheewakarn. She is still a little young, but could gain valuable experience at this years Olympics.

Other than tennis, just what other sporting events offer a realistic opportunity for a Thai podium finish and a medal. A number of possibilities follow Feel free to add your own.
