Permanently disabled, maimed, children growing up without parents, the bread winner of the family dead or disabled. The effects of this will last for years.

Same with the cyclone in Burma. Tsunami in Indonesia, and Thailand.

Well, however sad it is, she survived. Quite a few of them won't be able "to hold a pen" anymore although they did not lose their hands.
In China and Myanmar recently but what about millions of childrens enslaved in Pakistan, India, China...?
But I guess people need individual stories to connect to the misery of this world.
From time to time.
Kind of morbid entertainement, I guess...

This is NOT Australia or some other western nation.

These children are from a one child policy family.
What can Thailand do to help these poor souls when they have enough problems of their own?

The Chinese government will do nothing about it,NOTHING to help the disabled after this not even put them in a foster home.This is the hot story on the Chinese websites at the moment.

Somewhere down the track this will hopefully change at least after the Olympics.

The only hope these poor children have is to be sponsored through the HOPE foundation or directly by contacting the Disaster Foundation in China.

I am very upset because of this too,not only that litle girl but babies who are being cared for by neighbours but not indefinitely.No idea what will happen to these poor people it's a massive tragedy.

the story is poignant because her concern after losing her hands was about how she could hold a pen at school rather than how she could hold a PS3 controller or a lolly which shows that even at her tender age she had ambition. lets hope she overcomes her handicap

The internet Chinese forums are rife with the undertones that the media is publishing all these stories,some true some makebelieve as damage control tactics to build up support for the Olympics!In the short term it fends off the spotlight on Tibet issues and other things going on too.

Clever marketing and media manipulation BUT of course many,many true stories.

You've got to be kidding or you've got me mixed up with someone else.

The mods move threads to MKP and hey ALL of them have hit 100+ and that's not my fault if people want to post there.

I started a good thread about 'Who Said That' moved from Games to Lounge than to MKP based on the idiotic responses from others.

I did but the thread was moved around several times and things were lost in the translation.
