Dull

Money is ok. Cost of living isn't as low as it was 4 years ago.

Hours are low. Only in front of a class for 14 hours a week. spend the rest of my time scratching my balls and being bored.

Apartment is small but liveable.

Got tax free status for two years though so a bonus there.

Well, I'm here as well so I can probably offer some insight. This is my second year here, first teaching at a public school

1. Money --- Very good. Rent is paid for, along with flight to and from Korea, all visa fees and a bonus at the end. Oh, and pension as well. Public school teachers also get about $2,000 stipend to furnish the apartment and buy anything they need for school/teaching. Cost of living can be fairly high unless you eat Korean food all the time.

2. Girls --- Even though my Thai lass isn't here atm, I thank my lucky stars that I'm still with her. K-girls are completely mental. Very insecure, and act like 12-year old children. Most still live with mommy and daddy (and oftentimes even sleep in the same bed), have no job, aren't independent, and just waiting for some bloke to marry them so they can go shopping for the rest of their days.

3. Culture - shite.

5. Other bullshit - Koreans truly believe that they are living in the best country in the world. According to them, Korea produces the best fruit, the most beautiful women, and is the only country with 4 seasons. They dub their country as the international hub of asia, yet have a very limited supply of foreign products. For example, the only electronics I can buy are Samsung and LG. International hub my ass.
Even though I live in Busan, I still get stared at.....A LOT. Not many people speak English. No one smiles. Lots of pointing and laughing. Don't want to sound racist, but Korean men are disgusting to behold - if they're not hokking loogies on the pavement, then they're acting like sissy fagstains with their pop star hair and their man-purses.

6. Teaching --- pretty good, but it varies from school to school. Kids aren't very bright, but I've been to schools where they're fooking scholars. They're fun to teach though. And even though the textbook is the worst material I have ever seen in my 8 years of teaching, I'm pretty free to make my own stuff. My co-teachers are great (again, this varies from school to school), and I've recently found out that I get about 14 weeks of vacation this year.

I lived there for four years and speak the language fairly well.

Some of the statements are true some aren't. The whole english school teacher culture is looked upon by Koreans much like the Thai's. Some curiousity, some dissention. They can be prejudice. Ask yourself what is your ethnicity? Mine, I'm Hienz 57, you name it its mixed. They are a pure race. With that said, they love the mixed child now. They were looked down on before but now the big roundish eyes, mixed with the Korean is the latest thing. When the little ones are with, the women flock them. You might want to "borrow" a mixed couples kids for a day to take to the mall, ha!

The younger generation has forgotten the hard times and it's all pop star this and pop star that. The money was over 1000 to the $ before. There weren't so many cars. It all went downhill after the 88 Olympics.

If you get out in the less travelled areas they are still some of the friendliest people I have ever met. Strangers will invite you in to share food and drink.

Beer-shite, well most drink soju so I will agree with that. I personally like soju myself. A small pot with ice, shaved cukes, and maybe some met-gee-su (plume extract) make it very smooth to drink. The little stands (pochon-machas) are some of the fun places to drink under the tent.

The food is great, spicy, sweet whatever you want. Barbecue khalbi, sangyupsal and all those extras. I enjoy the sit down on the floor and eat for 3 hours while drinking thing. Then when you get to the condo, they have ordered more food and drink! Saynge-tang (beef soup) after drinking really makes the hangover go away.

The women, yes they can be a pain, but some of the best in bed I have ever had, bar none. (I find them very good in the oral arena). Never rushing, good for repeated wake-ups and your imagination is the limit on positions. After, always up quickly to get a wash cloth and wipe you down so you are comfortable.

Mongering went south for the well known areas like Osan, Dongducheon and Seoul. Texas street in Busan, it's a joke. Now have fun finding a Korean girl in those joints, f - rip offs.

Bottom line, just as in Thailand, the more of the language you know and culture you submerse yourself into, the better the time. I have traveled all thru Asia. I am not close to fluent in all the languages but knowing just a sco-shee bit has made for some great stories and memories. Or was it mammaries?

My advice, spend some of that time you are bored learning the language. In two months you'll find a whole new world open to you. Otherwise you can do what the thousands of military have done, "It sucks here, the food sucks, the people suck, the women don't suck, ,.....".

I know that you used the word KOREANS, but you meant Thai didn't you.

What has been posted by most are some of the best I have read on any area so far.

I lived and worked in Korea many years ago for a short while, and I loved the women and the food and the country in general, don't really know why I came to Thailand, except maybe I have had enough of the 4th season in my life.

I am happy where I am at, but I've been getting bored and restless because I've been here almost 5 years (minus 8 months back in home-country.)

I've been researching/reading a lot and corresponding with a couple of folks in Korea.

I can always come back to where I'm at, so going up there seems very doable. A new place for a while will be refreshing, and I would study the language, as I do study it here in 'Nam.

I now believe that within 12 months from now, I'll leave 'Nam for a while.

Korea is #1 on the list now, and has been for over a year.

Bullocks on the bloodline, yes there is some mix Mrsquirrel, but is it as mixed as yours or mine? Doubtful. I'm Irish, Scottish, French Canadian, Norwegian, Italian, German and American Indian.

They are at worse, maybe part Japanese. The Chinese and Mongol part is from waaaaaaaay back. I only met one girl who had a Japanese father and Korean mother. She was very beautiful, but had some issues due to the mix race thing.
