This is a good idea. Last year, when that penniless idiot fell asleep, forgot to drop anchor, or whatever and ran his rig aground in Patong Bay Mid had expert analysis of that as well as other nautical events (not on this board). He seems to be a very knowledgeable and experienced yachtsman.

no , ain't got that sort of freight ,was offered one for $1 SG yrs ago , turned the offer down as I couldn't afford it .holes in the water mate , fill up with money .

Bit of an Old salt myself, had my first dingy before my first wank and then progressed thru bigger centre boarders to small keelers, bigger keel boats, Mostly Farr designs, 1104, 38 and a Farr 40.
Lots and lots of money tipped into these things particularly in the 80's when exotics where used, but no one really understood the limits so sails burst, spinnaker poles busted and hulls cracked.

Its a great sport though, particularly in New Zealand and Queensland, Brought a Buzz 7m yacht here but sailing out here is a bit boring (usually no breze) and uncomfortable in the heat, so flicked it off.
Before that I had a Catalina 42 parked in the Whitsundays (QLD Australia) beautiful sailing area, brought it as a charter investment, hardly worth the effort the yacht was peice of crap and even though it was new and cost me about 250 k USD at the time, it was shoddily built and not up to chartering duties.
So flicked it off it 10 years ago along with my 2nd wife pictured sailing the Yacht.

Oh well, you gotta spend it on something.

Thats for damn sure, but on a boat you can spend it a lot faster.

I never really likes a Catalina, Columbia was a better boat I thought, but never owned one, Had a 40 Bristol yawl that was to damn tender to be a good boat.

It was an old Rhodes 19 that someone gave me when I did them a favor. I replaced the rigging and repainted the bottom & spent a couple of summers having the most fun that a human can have with their clothes on!

My brother bought a new 21ft fishing boat last week, and once he puts the motor on, we will be going fishing for tuna and mackeral. You can't do that in a yacht! well, ..you can, but they are too slow!! ..... I prefer power bots personally.

if I had the money, I would buy a Grand Banks like this ....the rolls royce of motor boats..(actually, a 42footer would be fine)

on all the cats I have sailed on you would have 2 troll lines out to pick up mackeral and tuna - and onery barracuda as happened to me one stormy night , I had to beat 2 of them to death with a ball pien hammer once I got them on board realised what they were and they wanted a piece of me . An hour or so later a shackle on the head stay gave way and the genoa with it , I had a good half hour of shitting myself while my mate and I had to get it down and out of the wind before it went in the water and turned us over.

In my tanker driving days I used to enjoy passing so close to them to shit them up a bit, take the wind out of their sails, and observe their displeasure through the binoculars.

And then hope that the guy wasn't someone important from BP.
