I've had offers from girls all around the Sukhumvit nightlife zones, from ladies who had stopped working and had come back to see their friends in the bar. Boyfriend/husband was supporting them. I know a few who live abroad, but when they return they like to fuck guys here for free, always young guys. Their farang husband never has a clue (he will be told she is back to see her family...reception isn't good etc etc).

The other scary thing is how many have Thai boyfriends, whether it be mangda or giks, or even long term boyfriends..

Like the author of the OP I have had many free ones with 'ex' slappers married to old fools. Often the husband is a silly self-opinionated ugly knob who loves to pontificate to other silly fools in bars and on web boards about how much he understands Thai 'kulture' while my knob feeds his missus' desires.

depends on the environment you are in. if you are surrounded with whores and the like most probably you will attract them.

try associating with thai from all level and see if you will meet somebody worthy of your liking or love.

When i first came to Thailand i took advantage of the nice ladies offering P4P. All in the interests of improving my cultural understanding of course. I even paid for my own research.
I met many girls who conform to the bar girl stereotype, and it was interesting as i got to know them on a conversational basis, how ingrained the cash culture is for many of them.
It was also interesting to meet quite a few who enjoy the work and are not necessarily motivated entirely by cash.
I still have a couple of friends from that time and i now view their work quite differently. One is an attractive and sexy professional with no qualms about what she does. She is open and honest about her work and the importance of money in her life. She is not a bad person, quite the opposite. She has grown up knowing nothing else, works hard and provides an excellent value for money service. We see each other on an irregular basis, but not as a customer client relationship. She is more of a mate who likes a good gossip over coffee and will often ask my advice about her latest beau.
Another friend who i still bump into occasionally was my first bargirl. Again she is honest and hardworking, but seems to have more fun than most girls. She appears less worried about money and will choose her clients based on her own preferences, even going without by choice. She is a looker, but trades more on her personality. She has often given me a lift home from the pub after i have been watching late footy and has offered a freebie if i am interested.
Nice girls both of them, working in a business which few farangs understand or appreciate culturally.

As I've said, exceptions exist (I know of several)....but I'd also add, someone falling in love with such people as the ones you cite is in serious trouble, as the love wont be reciprocated. Business is business. It isn't love and the male involved maybe alone in such fanciful notions. I've certainly witnessed such scenarios many times (the latest a friend from a Soi Cowboy bar, Tilac bar, who had some guy take care of her, financially of course, but when I asked her if she liked him, she screwed her nose up and said "no". So he's got her out of the bar and is paying for it, but she is just biding her time, supporting her family and saving money for the day she can leave).

I think it depends on the girl. My money oriented pro friend would be hard work for anyone who did not understand her principle motivation. She is cyurrently dating married french pilot.
My other friend, i could easily see her pulling a mark and settling down.
I do take your point about these girls being a minority.

I really enjoyed talking to these girls with no business in mind, and as we are still friends with no financial links, i assume they do too. Outside of work they are pretty normal people just like everyone else.
