How many years behind is Thai society?

Grown women still being secretive about having a sex live - 50 years

Kids, the elderly, and the disabled sat in the gutter begging - 60 years

Car ownership being seen as an important economic achievement - 30 years

Undrinkable tap water - 50 years

That averages at about 48 years, so I won't be born for another decade

Poor examples; same could be said for so many "developed" countries. Some of the points are just wrong. Can't you do any better? Maybe education? Maybe the fuedal attitude of populace? so many other accurate things to point out.
Are you just settng up easily argumed points? Fishing? Could be a decent troll lot's to discuss. Sadly I'm off to eat and drink.
Let's see if you've any bites By the time I get back.

I guess it would help if people paid income tax - isn't it about 4% or something?

Obviously education is a key factor in any third world country, but then you look at the teachers here when someone can become a qualified teacher in less than 6 weeks we come to realise that it will be many years before these natives get a good education, also the Thai hatred of farangs will take many decades to overcome, and it may take even longer when they realise how illiterate their english teachers really are.

    Are you a West hater?

The pacifists would have come up with that line if the US and UK had gone after Hitler in the mid 1930s.

    ^^

that's a bit of a scratched record you've got there Dog.

The learning of English is of mimimal consequence to the 'education' of the people - ie: in terms of loyalty, long-sightedness, responsibility and efficency for example.

The Tefl scenario is just a by-product of the 'live for the moment and fuck everyone else' attitude here.

What FF said about the feudal attitude of the populace seems to me to be the main issue.

It's almost as if the working class believe they should be exploited by the rich as that's their karma .

Nah, I just think sometimes our governments do stupid things that waste a shitload of our money for no good reason. When they do good stuff, that's great. When they do bad stuff, I really feel I should be allowed to say so. That's it.

I agree (but then I'm not paying any tax there now), but sending a task force after Hitler early on would have saved a few $$$, don't you think?

I agree with Smeg on this one - its too easy to go on about Iraq and Vietnam etc....just pawn countries in the wider scheme of things unfortunately.

Did you know that Thailand declared war on Britain so that they didn't have to go to the hassle of fighting the Japanese in the 40's?

Yes, the Japs were a right jolly old bunch in WW2.

^ Yep. That's an endearing characteristic of our hosts - they'll back whoever they think is definitely going to win, until it comes to the point where they suddenly have to swap sides and say it was all a cunning plan.

AO, you do know about the taffys dont you? its like they burnt down all our houses in the 80s, somethings just dont change, if he visits you do not let him bring any flammable fluids or anything like that, otherwise you will wake up with your house burning down around you.
