I Just Looked Out My Window And...

    ... it's raining??

A mild winter and now rain in January? What the hell is going on with the weather? Anyone else noticed any variations from the norm in areas other than CM?

Rained in Nong Khai Friday and Saturday, gloomy yesterday, broken clouds but sunny today. I don't remember it raining last winter.

Weather has been a little weird and various spots. Just spoke with a friend back in Phuket and she tells me that since I left last week, it's been terribly hot and sticky. Bangkok seems about normal, a little cool at nights, normal during the day.

Definately highly unusal for here that's for sure. If memory serves it's the first time since I've been here.

By the way, is discussing the weather automatically make me a boring git or are there other prerequisites to fill?

Tex, I think they are called the Mango Rains. I don't remember them when I lived in Khon Kaen but since moving up here get them now again from late Jan through to early March.

Always had a few showers every January when I lived in Central LOS but don't seem to get them further north but it sure does look like it is trying today

Wonder if it means something. Extremely happy I don't have to splash the trees. again tomorrow.

Very fresh this morning in Sanpatong, but at least we have sun and no need to water the garden for a few days.

    Should be warmer tomorrow though.

CNN weather last week or so..... La Nina in full force. Very wet for Indo, Malasia and parts of Thailand. heavy weather for parts of the US.... bla bla

For those in the north the weather systems raising hell in China are probably the cause. The tail end of the multiple fronts sweep down across Thailand, Cambo and the other SEA nations.

This is what I woke up to this morning - was hoping to start back at work today.

Beautiful morning, but light smattering of snow, much worse in some other areas, and cold....

From what I am told, they are following the king's cloud seeding rain project and dropped chemicals from airplanes. That is what the wife heard from a friend that works on projects developed by the king.

    Not sure 100%.

    Same in Bangkok.
Has been raining for a few days.
    3 months early.
I would say it can be considered as variations from the norm.

No signs of global warming in western Canada. Had about a foot of snow in Vancouver earlier this week, and temperatures in Alberta and Saskatchewan have been minus 40-50 all week (not including the windchill factor; celsius and fahrenheit meet at 40 below). Omegod, gimme rain in Thailand. I have five layers on and I'm still cold.
