TO answer the OP title, NO I usually dont feel threatened in Thailand, but possibly should when driving or crossing the roads etc.

The only time I ever felt threatened in Thailand was on a sunday afternoon by a drank farang with a broken bottle threatening to slit my throat.

Not the same as in farang land, every Friday Saturday evenign there is violent groups of drunks looking for an excuse to fight.

I guess there is violence in thailand but most of it is thai on thai (or burmese) not usually farang, and I guess pattaya is another story again, but most of the fights down there have alcohol involved anyway. no?

I'll go with that, the only time I ever felt seriously and personally threatened was also by a drunk farang, a real big one too, but that kicked in convention 4 and the matter was resolved before any of my blood was shed.
