    Tonight's Battle Royale

Took the wife and kids out for a "quiet" dinner at an open air restaurant in Pathumthani / Rangsit area. We were enjoying our meal when a Thai men entered the place and began talking to a group of about eighteen 20-something Thais all sitting in a group. The man that came in went out to the alley with one of the men from the group. They were right by where we were sitting and suddenly there was yelling and a scuffle ensued. About 8 or 9 guys went jumping over tables knocking bottles and food everywhere. They went out and gave the man that came to talk to them a severe beating. The group then came back in to finish their meal and the man that was beaten slithered off like a dog with his tail between his legs.

Like I told my wife, we were fortunate that there was no gun play involved.

I like to share things with the members here. Mostly this was to get people to be aware that with these muppets, anything can kick off - antime and any place. You or your family can get hurt anywhere in Thailand, not just Pattaya......

I think most people are aware that you can get hurt anywhere in the world at any time, not just Thailand.

Third world mentality I think, here in the UK in our highly civilised society, they walk down the road eating a bag of chips , and get set upon and knifed because they are the wrong colour, happens all over. you learn when to get the family out PDQ!

Thailand is hardly a third world country. 2 and a half at least.

But one thing is for sure - where i come from in the UK, if you are out on on the streets after the bars close you are bound to at least see some trouble. I can't say that about Thailand, but if there are Thai's involved it's unlikely to to be a one on one.

I spent 7 years working in Brazil and 1 year living in Rio and i promise you - Thailand ain't so bad.
