Drunkards and Dregs of Western Society Now Living in Thailand: Solutions?

    Hi,

Being new to this forum, I just wanted to gauge the opinions of some of you concerning what I see as a real problem.

This evening, while walking home at about 10 PM, I noticed some Farang with beer in hand, weaving his way along the pavement (please note I call the sidewalk the pavement in deference to the guys from Scotland here).

I felt quite uncomfortable watching his weaving, and so I walked more slowly so as not to overtake him, and possibly risk being accosted by him in a negative way.

He seemed quite out of it.

Now, in a western country, I would imagine, the cops would put cuffs on a Farang like this, and allow him to sleep peacefully for the rest of the night in the drunk tank.

But here? I guess such Farang think that they can behave in this manner, and it's no skin off their nose, even though it reflects so negatively on the rest of us "good" Farang.

So then, my question to you is what can be done to rid this land of these problematic Farang.

Most Thai people never seem to behave this way....And I do know, having spent quite a few years here.

This, here, is a rather upscale neighborhood. I am not talking about drunks weaving in Pattaya, which is complete expected and to be overlooked.

Here, though, this kind of drunkenness is totally unwelcome by the local people, including ME.

    Again, I ask you....

What can be done to rid Thailand of these types of Farang.

    Thank you and regards,
    Histone H3.

Note: If you, yourself, might be one of these drunkards, then I still bear you no ill will. Just don't let me see you, too often, or you will ruin my days.

Was said drunk Farang hurting anybody?
    Disturbing the peace?
    Causing problems?

Exactly, its one of the "frantic thread starters". JB, BN, or one of the GG's?

Glad we have a different repo system here.

I concur with this take. There's seemingly an endless supply of bird shit farangs in Asia and it makes me embarrassed to be white sometimes.

Perfectly acceptable behaviour in the UK, unless you're causing trouble.

PlanK and Fondles seem to have taken offense to the post. Presumably because they are the drunken and cretinous dross that the op is talking about.

    "Did this offend you ?"

Not only was I offended, but I also felt a bit threatened by his most odd behavior, at 10PM, on a deserted street.

    Drunkards never respect one's privacy.

And many often become engaging when least wanted.

Obviously, this Farang was a useless alcoholic.

And you could even tell by his haircut, which was a close shave on the sides, and then a mop on top.

I mean, guys, who would want to be engaged by such as he?

    It's like this:

Say you are on the subway or the underground, and some drunk tries to engage you in drunken interaction.
What are you going to do?
    Punch him in the face?

What about if he is bigger than you?

At least, you can call the trainman or the conductor, or the police.

But, on a lonely street at 10PM, last night?....
The only thing I could do is hang back until I was able to turn the corner and be rid of the sight of him.

Truly: I always feel safe, calm, and collected with the local people in this land. But....Farang?

Farang are always an unknown quantity, just because they come from all parts of the globe, and often are uneducated, or full of tattoos, like some wannabe Queequeg. This can be very unnerving when one meets a Farang like this, in the night, and with nobody in sight...

Why? Does your whiteness link you to him? Are you proud when you see other white people? How does your pride of being white feel when compared to a brown person? Or a black person? Are you more proud of being white then? Or are you embarrassed at being racist twat?

    A case for TDCSI perhaps...

Andrew Drummond did an article on a serial TV thread starter and poster who earned less than minimum wage, might have been "Johnathon Fairfield "

Worried that you'd get a different kinda mouthful, and not get paid your 500 baht?

Where do you live HISTONE H3?

Might explain a lot of your sentiment about Thailand. So many foreigners make a general sweeping statement about drunks and dregs. Once you get out of Pattaya, Phuket and parts of BKK, Thailand is a very different place.

This poster reminds me of farangrakthai… fucking nutter. Moaning about people not standing in the cinema for the kings anthem.

If the Pattaya-Phuket Farangs would remain where they belong, and not encroach into areas that are reserved for normal people, then the problem I mentioned in the topic might not ensue.

Maybe this drunkard I encountered last night was on holiday from Pattaya, and just happened to be walking around in my better neighborhood.

    Who knows....

    Innocently walking, was I.

And, not weaving on the pavement, was I.

More seppo but the vocabulary could be a blind.

    He’s a bore anyway.

The notion that a demographic has a corporate responsibility for maintaining some sort of nationalistic reputation which could be undermined by adverse character traits is of course bollocks, a silliness trotted out by the chickenheads all the time when their people act like the greedy, reckless morons they are.

But this schtick that all farang can be lumped together and share a responsibility for a behavioural norm is childish and a poor attempt at trolling.

He should be jailed on general principle.

A teacher (American) turned up to work drunk yesterday. I won't go into details because who know who reads this but he was shouting, cursing and threatened to ''fucking punch that guy in the face''. Even the students said ''Teacher mao tamai'' why are you drunk? The office went deadly silent. The Thai staff were talking on the phone about him but I don't if anything will happen about it. He went from angry to just on edge and joking. He lasted the whole day haha.

That's what happens when you full your schools with drunks, druggies and highschool drop-outs.
