Arrow Lost DTAC sim in phone likely overboard can I regain my NUMBER?

Not concerned about the money as was a throw away 50 quid nokia "waterproof" but once I return can I get the same number reissued

I realize Ill need a passport and I am still able to open my account online.Pretty sure I registered it with a different passport years ago,, not even my last passport but 2 or 3 before that as iused to fill em up eveyr couple of yeaers pre covid

There is an outside chance it has slipped under a bunk, locker,or worse into the engine compartment which will have a thorough clean once through Kattegat and moored at my mates place in the Baltic

Luckily I have my numbers backed up on my good phone which is with my shore kit.

Plan B is order a sim online fron DTAC Lazada/Shoppee True /AIS etc , do you still have to faff about in person with passport liek during teh D44 crackdown.

I hardly se teh Thai number but of course I have given to Immigration, bank airlines etc so be real hassle to have to resupply , last time bank took about 30m to change all online banking etc

Any advice welcome , calling DTAC from a Swedish mobile at sea seems like the worst plan.

Getting the same number, both in Korea and England was easy. As for Thailand??? Should be easy, simple stuff... Good luck.

If you were on a dtac contract rather than PAYG you will be fine, otherwise you're fucked

Get yourself a smart tag and attach it to your keyring. Then you can find your car keys or phone by the other device and next time your role playing Kate from Titanic you will know if the phone went overboard.

Oh hang on... you say you had a Nokia?

Anyway get yourself a samsung smart phone when you get back onshore and a few smart tags and stick em on the family's keyrings and you'll know when they're approaching the pub/bookies/brothel or whatever your patronising at the time

    ^ what's that crap, Dingle???

This is how "smart tags" look. Now that D44 has lost his rubbish Nokia, he can get himself a decent phone!

(Plus, unless D44 is gonna get his deep sea diving gear out, and that Nokia was rated to the depth that the phone is now lying at then what bloody use is a tag? )

    Cycling should be banned!!!

eSim data packages are fantastic if you use data messaging/calling such as Line, Kakao, Whatsapp, etc.

If you move around the world a bit, don't want silly costs then an eSim phone offers great options. I use the airalo data packages (many many countries, you just swap in a data package when you need it).

Here's the website and an example for Thailand: Thailand eSIM: Stay Connected With Airalo - Airalo Blog

^ looks like these DTAC ones also have a number because calls are included (but, you won't be able to get your old number on an eSim; these contracts are made between DTAC and Airalo, bought in bulk, so are usually much cheaper for a short term package than roaming or a contract).

(Just use the one in the country you need when and if you need it - takes a minute or two to buy, easy to activate/deactivate - gives peace of mind without the worry of huge roaming costs, etc.)

(Everything is managed online, there's no physical sim to worry about - just the eSim. So, for example, my iPhone has a hard micro sim that I put in the phone's sim tray, and an eSim which you can have endless countries - I usually have my Korean hard micro sim in the phone at all times (but I turn roaming off when I leave Korea because I only speak to the wife and a few friends on Line/Kakao which I can use wifi and data for. My UK phone number is in my eSim with data package which is great when I'm in the UK. When I went to Israel, I deactivated the UK eSim, activated the Israel eSim (this one had no phone number just LTE data) at the Tel Aviv airport, and my phone was fully connected with loads of data for about $15; usually they range from $5 to $30 depending how much data you want - just check that it's with a good local carrier... Once I left Israel, I deactivated the Israel eSim in settings and reactivated my UK eSim. Very very easy and convenient.)

Have lost my AIS sim on a prepay plan... no issue to get replaced with same number.

I assume all Thai telco's are the same, Is the DTAC sim registered to your name ?

You can keep your old number if you switch to a new sim card with another company ( my missus moved from DTAC to True) so you "should" be able to get the same number with a new sim card from the same company

I doubt the airport vendors can help. But try.
