    Dirk goes for a wander.

Hat Yai to Singapore, Qatar, London, Aberdeen.

    Vienna, Austria.

Unplanned and unscripted Euro Adventure, possibly Budapest, Bucharest and Prague.

Will dump some photos here along the way.

First stop is a layover in Singapore, where I met a pal that will join me from Austria.

I brought him a few bits he left in Thailand and he bought me dinner.

Burgers and Lobsters no less, with a couple of craft pints thrown in.

With a view over the famous indoor waterfall that started it flashy lights and music bit just as we were finishing up.

    Next stop Doha.

Legged it through Doha, currently legging it through Heathrow and waiting for a bus to T5. It’s gonna be tight and I’ve got no faith that my bag made it to London.

Surprisingly, my bag was only 9.5kg.

If you make it to Prague in addition to the many attractions , the sex museum, the bonging of teh big cock in Old Town Square do see teh Castle, easy way is tram to top and long slow wander down

The 2 Cats brewery and restaurant is my pick in the Old Town

+420 736 143 351 No need book except maybe Sat night.
If happy to share big trestle tables , drink at bar

First rate Czech food $8-18 Beef and Trout my picks there is an English menu if you ask the very busy waiters.

Tip top Czech Beers $2 wine similar prices , I am sure they serve spirits never looked.

It is always busy but you can always get a seat if have a glass at the bar, its a loud very informal German Bierkeller type place.I have been know to sing!!

While I like to join in sessions at homebrew /rural style shabeens, there are many Jazz venues my fave the Aloha bar and basement is a friendly crowd opp the Spanish Synagogue, pm for more

2 Cats Brewery sounds great. I will check that out for sure.

Ive been to Prague twice already and my mate has a Brother living there so we'll probably just be making a nuisance of ourselves before we fly out without much need for sightseeing, tho his Bro may have something in store for us.

Interested to hear more about Bucharest and Budapest tho!

Pics are not loading properly right now, just away to have a wander and get a SIM card and some other bits. Will try later.

2 hours here and I had already put up with a whinging taxi driver, called someone at the bank an incompetent twat and ate a quick lunch consisting of a Chicken and Mushroom King Pot Noodle, Salt and Vinegar Discos and a tin of IRN-BRU.

Scored on the apartment, cupboards are full of all the usual condiments, herbs n spices etc.

Cool thread, Dirk (I need to get round to finishing mine some time next week).

Re: Bucharest and Budapest. I've been to both but can't remember too much because I was royally drunk in Bucharest and Budapest was nearly 30 years ago.

What I do recall about both is that Romania was stunningly cheap and so were the women. Budapest is a choice between Buda and Pest, isn't it? Pest is the place for nightlife and that suited me perfectly being that I am a total pest when I'm on the lash.

I'm sure you'll make the most of the goulash in Hungary, but if you get chance, try the chicken paprikash. It's fantastic!

ALOHA COCKTAIL BAR & MUSIC CLUB (Prague) - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go
I always like U Fleku when in Prague. It's probably very touristy now - as is the whole of Prague - but I remember first being there in 1995 and paying the equivalent of 7p for a beer in a worker's bar just off Wenceslas Square before heading to U Fleku and paying not much more.

Even now I still find the place cheap.

Just look for the locals on the buckfast and you've found it.

Btw, green owed for the pics above. I've just had a fry up but no haggis or black pudding were involved.

Is that mustard Colmans though? I 'ope so.

Pest is the left bank the East side of teh Danube and the party /shopping centre

I lived in a vineyard only about 5 miles S of Buda the classier side with an impressive view, the old commie statues are parked in a filed nr the hold airport SW of Kelenfold where the Vienna motorway ends

Great cheap public transport , was a monthly do anything ticket for peanuts

In Pest visit the classic Cafe Central at Frenc Ter (Frances Sq) Metro downtown a real gem

Hemmingway Etterem cafe and lake near Morisz Sigismund Korut also lovely for bird watching

Walking directions here but only a few m on a tram taxi or bike

PS if driving esp bikes note far better to cross tramlnes at 90 degrees , guess how I know!!
