I was previously studying Thai 3 days a week at a center 7km away from the house, would walk there, 2 hour Thai lesson, and walk back. Home for lunch with 14km and a productive 2 hours of education under me belt.

Getting new wheels put on a car at 9:30 this morning at a place 8km away, will walk the 8km back home and then the 8km back to collect it at 3pm. Why the fok not, I've got legs. A tidy 16km for the day.
BQuick does it in about 30mins...

Can't you just enjoy skating without worrying that your watch isn't into skating? Ditch the watch for an hour. You show that digital heap of crap who's the boss!

A 55 year old woman I know averages 50,000 per day. Im not sure how far that is but she walked to the bridge and back every evening which is around 20K/m. My number of steps however, differ only by the distance of the remote control from the couch.
