I have never been successful with that. Mostly I follow the same process as OhOh and it usually works. Not always. In fact it has worked more reliably in recent months, I don't know why, I still do the same things.

Since this thread is about posting photos, can anyone tell me why sometimes I end up with that little "Attached thumbnails" notice at the end of a post? Even when the picture is already posted okay. It happens sometimes and I cannot understand what I have done differently.

View from a tall building in Mauritius.

I was in the shopping centre building this morning, walked up a few floors to snap a photo.

Great view! Looks like you are enjoying your new life.

We made a snowman last week with my Kindergarten class. We used what we had on the playground.

We made two actually.... the other snowwoman was child size and Covid ready. We sort of ran out of accessories.

A few pics from the frozen north... threading our way between the islands off northern Norway en-route to the Barents Sea.

    Tromsø pre-dawn.

    And on northwards...

And I had 4G throughout... better reception than I get at my mum's house in Somerset.

I've worked in Norway on and off for over 30 years... and tonight, around 80km off the northern coast of Norway in the Barents Sea I finally saw the Northern Lights.

This made me very happy as a few nights ago while we were heading up here, I got up for my nightshift starting at midnight and everyone was going on about how great the Northern Lights had been... of course while I was asleep. And they had finished that night by the time I went out to take a look.

OK, so my pictures weren't as good as these, but at least I've seen them now and that's good enough for me.

Excellent, they say that normally the Northern lights look better on camera then real life, because of how the camera picks up light. But I don't think that's applicable in your case.

^ In fact I think that's very much the case - I didn't realise it was a known thing.

When I took the top two pics tonight there was just a slight glimmer in the sky and it didn't look much different than a patchy cloud to the naked eye (but with just a bit of flickering going on)... until I took the picture when the camera picked up the glowing green colour really well.

A few nights ago when my colleagues took the bottom three pics, apparently the lights looked way better on camera than to the naked eye.

A strange thing... a mate of mine out here has a fancy Iphone 13 and his pictures were rubbish... and the same went for anyone else here with Iphones. The Samsung phones (which I also have) took by far the best pictures of the Northern Lights.

^^Amazing pics, Mendip.. so so beautiful both the sunset and the Northern lights that your friend took. You are lucky to have such nice views.
I always wanted to go up to Northern Canada to see the Northern lights, but haven't yet. Just amazing so surreal.

Grumpy the cat. We call him Grumpy because he just wants to play all the time with his paws. He's the biggest suck in the world.
