    Its Not Thai Culture???????

Do Thais hide behind that phrase all of the time?

I go jogging 3 dyas a week around a track in a park. Every day this one large and mean looking dog chases me and growls, barks and snaps at me. The owner of the dog lives next door to the park. I first talked to the maid of the owner of the dog (with the wife's help of course.) She promised to keep the dog in the yard in the mornings. This lasted about 2 days. Since then I have resorted to running with a big stick and have used it to chase the dog away.

All of this to say, me and the wife were jogging this morning and the dog chases us again, while the owner just watches and does nothing. My wife talks to the lady and she says that the dog is harmless and just wants to play. She then tells my wife that she can't do anything about the problem because she does not speak dog language. Next she tells my wife that we just do not get Thai culture!!!

What does that have to do with Thai culture???????

^In Thai culture they let dogs do what the fuck they like, till someone gets really pissed off and kills them. Basically.

It seems rather inconsiderate, not much one can do about it.
Try and make friends with the doggy if you intent to continue to jog in this location.

^ Does it really work or send them into some vicious craze? Might give it a go to sort the bastard dogs at the top of my soi near the beer shop. Life would be so much better without them.

Rat poison works, however I have heard that the farang in the area is the number one suspect when this happens.

That is why I restrain myself!

Does it chase you and actually attempt to bite? If so take a golf club and whack the fuka cos it will obviously get in hitting distance. If it's just barking and you're scared you can borrow my bitch. She'll have the other one running away with its tail between its legs in no time. Just have her back at the house by 7.30 cos she has to make my breakfast and take the daughter to school by 8am.

You don't need 800 baht for pepper spray, get a hammer handle from the hardware shop (the thick ones they use for the rubber mallet heads are good) drill a a hole thru one end, thread enough nylon rope thru to loop around your wrist, tie it off, and you have a nice cheap dog deterrent.

And if you get any arguments from the idiot owner, it works on them as well. Also fits well in the basket of your motorbike, your cargo pockets or the wifes handbag.

    PS Patent Pending.

Don't start me on the subject of bleedin dogs!!!
We have a dickhead living in our soi who has ( at the last count) 12 dogs in a small town house '
You will have heard of "the running of the bulls" in Spain - well we have the running of the fekin dogs twice a day !!
He just lets them out ! They go apeshit barking - chasing any cat child etc around.
Note what you said Chitown re poison - got some and severely tempted .

Once you give them a good dose they'll stay a bit wary...as they say if a cat sits on a hot stove once it won't sit on a hot stove again, or a cold one.

next time, beat the dog to a pulp with your stick, then explain that you are really quite harmless, and just wanted to play, and that is how people of our culture play with dogs which are left to chase and bite strangers in public places. the dog understands this- we can't talk dog language either, but we do know how to get them to understand.
if you like stray dogs and dont want to injure the thing, beat the owner to a pulp with your stick. it is the owner who really deserves it, anyway!

If you have a farang husband, you & the entire family must culturally bleed him dry. When he's got nothing left & becomes annoying, then throw him culturally off a condo.

    Good question.

This subject has little to do with anyone's culture. It is more about group attitude, more of them than you, you lose.

I really can't stand it when the 'Thai culture' card gets played out time and time again..... because it's only a case of 'my dads bigger than your dad' ' my gun is bigger than yours' 'Do you know who I am'

It's an attitude that sucks, but when you live here you just have to live with it.

And it has fuk all to do with culture.... did I say that already.

Take a squeeze bottle with you when you jog. Get one that can squirt at least 20 feet.

    Fill it with 100% bleach.

Not only will the vicious dog get a facefull, and stop attacking, but the owner will be reminded that her goddamn white-headed dog is still chasing people.

I have two dogs and they've never chased people. It's usually dogs left to their own devices for survival that become aggressive. I've been bitten by big dogs and it's no fun.

It's a dog game. You are running, so you are the dog's prey. Totally ignore it. If it grabs your leg, have one of Gus' hammer handles ready and whack Buster on the nose. Actually, I use a rolled up newspaper or a wooden spoon.

Filling it with water will do exactly the same job.

Take them some custard creams & throw those at them while you are running. They'll soon forget about you & never bite you next time you come along.

There is no need to spray dogs with bleach or mace or - particularly - hit them with hammers

Using a good deodorant so you don't smell like a pork chop anymore will also work.

Bring some chicken bums- 10 bht from a street vendor- and make Tambon to the dog. Give the left overs to the owner.
Then go and piss on a monk.
