Slovakia goes through.

Israel moves into Round 2.




Honduras

New Zealand.



The Wannabe Aussies move forward.




Costa Rica

Versus



Moldova.


(My native) Moldova goes through.




Uruguay

Versus



The excellently named Swaziland.


Uruguay takes it.




Philippines gets a bye to the the next round.

NZ missed a chance in not changing the flag a few years back.

The Laser Kiwi would have been without a doubt the nicest and bestest flag in the World:

The simplistic Uruguayan design and colours take it, amid the controversy of handballs on the goal-line, alleged biting and lots of rolling around on the ground with 10 minutes to go.

Not some idiotic green and gold southern cross effort.
(the cross is visible all over the Southern Hemisphere...)

People are naturally anthropocentric but that's rather myopic imho.
Fascinated by mirrors like so many budgies.
Some minds reach out a bit further.
It seems to my admittedly tiny and autistic brain that some countries like Australia and New Zealand need only put their image on a flag to differentiate themselves from coloured stripes and squiggles.

I remember Public Enemy raising it in a tour video, and of course Kathy Freeman wore it well in Sydney 2000.
