    The Perfect Bar. Know one?

If you walked down a line of Beer Bars, why would you choose one rather than another?

Assuming that the prices were virtually the same, and what do you regard as the Do's and Don'ts of running a successful Beer Bar.

And if you have a favourite Beer bar. Why do you go there?

Your comments and opinions will be gratefully received by my wife Sow, who has just opened a small place in Pattaya opposite Mike Shopping Plaza on 2nd Rd, called 'The Friendly Bar'.

    Thanks gents........

friendly staff (but not over the top)

    clean

reasonable prices (doesnt have to be cheapest)

an interesting menu (must include thai and western, does not have to be super extensive)

music (but not too loud, control the staff who turn it up too high)

    pooltable

    tv (include sports)

my perfect bar would be one with a good selection of cold beers, some simple food - but most importantly without loud shit music blaring out at me.

and it wouldnt be in pattaya

If the music's too loud I'd probably keep walking

Best of luck to the missus, it's a cut throat business (sometimes literally!)

    Definitely top of the list

If they can't dance give 'em lessons or spare us the torture, there are plenty more important things to lie about than "you sexy dancer"

Topless waitresses = dancing problem solved, thanks cujo

Too subjective I reckon, one mans perfect bar is another's cesspit.

nobody i know actually likes the headbanging music we hear along any row of bars, but is it a coincidence that the bars with loudest music tend to be either empty and letting everyone know they're open for business, or heaving with customers.?

I'm right ugly, so any tart that tells me I'm handsome gets the cold shoulder. So if one yells at me 'you freckly ginger monkey's arsehole' usually gets my custom.

Oh..and a good toilet helps in case of er...mm...mishaps.

Not worth a new thread, but I saw the girly bar dice game gao (sp?) at FAO Schwartz, a fancy toy store here in NY. $50, unbelievable.

Sorry, not up to posting pics yet

Good toilet (essential in Thailand), sports on TV, blues band or background music, elevated position to watch the world go by, sea breeze, no mozzies. Don't give a shit about the girls, I'm married and the wife keeps muttering about cutting something off.
