Poll : Half of all foreigners are contemplating or had a sexual experience with a Ladyboy

A poll has suggested that half of all foreigners in Thailand have either had or are thinking about a sexual encounter with a Thai lady boy.
And the great majority of foreigners find them attractive.The lady boys of Thailand are often very beautiful and while many on online forums blame them for crime there are plenty who are respectable in all walks of Thai life.
Some lady boys are less than five star models but they never cease to attract Thai media attention especially at times like the military draft when they try to get out of national service. Now it seems that foreigners are equally as obsessed as the Thais by the charms of the country’s “type two women” as they are invariably termed in the local media.
A poll commissioned by “Dan About Thailand” a blogger who contributes to Thaivisa’s Bangkok and Pattaya Inspire pages online has revealed some interesting result. A remarkable 38% of foreigners have admitted to a sexual encounter with a lady boy in Thailand.
Though it was not asked in the survey of 300 people exactly what that might have entailed it was deemed “sexual”. In a further answer, 16% of those who said they had not yet sampled the sexual charms of a lady boy said they would not be averse should the situation arise. A stunning 80% of all respondents said they found lady boys attractive. The full details of the survey and its finding can be found here:

It is a Good Outcome?

I am actually rather pleased with the figure, it shows those that have come to Thailand as a tourist or expat have become a bit more liberated in their views and are willing to try out new things. Let’s face it our counterparts back home would not vote this way, or at least I am guessing they wouldn’t.
Personally, although for the record I have not had an encounter, I see nothing wrong with others who have. Who cares what turns you on? Unless you are still tied up in some religious ‘Adam and Eve’ type, increasingly dated mindset – there is no rule to say what is right and wrong when it comes to this the subject of the third gender.
I had a long term expat friend who used the analogy of the ‘seven year itch’ used more commonly in relationships. He suggested once you have spent 7 years in Thailand all taboos are broken and you are very likely to try a transgender. Another long term expat I know used to say ‘It is gay not to go with a lady-boy’, not sure his logic there but amusing nonetheless.

It can be a very enjoyable experience, provided you are selective. It also helps if you have a realistic idea of the differences in various Asian cultures.
Keeping an open mind helps too.

I don't think my mum was into it when she visited. I know a few lads who have relationships with ladyboy girlfriends, I know a few who live with thai boyfriends, not really my concern
and I do miss a really big pair of tits sometimes

It’s fifty one years since homosexuality between consenting adult stopped being a criminal offense in the UK.

The US took a bit longer and much hand wringing continues.

Is the world a more enlightened place? Maybe, maybe not. I’m sure any number of people will see the issue as a problem for others but not them. Admitting to yourself, that you would like to try a ladyboy relationship is one thing, but admitting openly that you have considered it, or even tried it, still causes considerable angst for people and their friends.

All those years have passed and it still carries so many negative connotations. If you are lucky enough to find a good friend who happens to be a ladyboy, it will have an impact on your life, even if you don’t let things run their course.
Just remember, ladyboys are people too. They also have feelings.
