Today in vaguely unsettling news, it’s fairly likely that one of your colleagues has masturbated while looking at your social media photos. Nope, not the one of your matcha latte next to your bullet journal. Your selfies. That group shot on your ‘Gram. Beach pics. New research from SugarCookie has found that two out of five men have masturbated to their coworkers’ social media photos. Look around at your office. 40% of them may have wanked to that one picture of you looking glorious. Harriet Sugarcookie surveyed almost 2,000 participants to find out their social media lurking habits. As you’d probably expect, the majority of those surveyed said they’ve checked out their coworkers’ social media profiles. You’ve probably done it – you’re curious about your boss’s life outside of work, so you have a scroll through their Instagram. That feels pretty standard. UK women are the biggest culprits, with 67% admitting they take peeks at their colleague’s photos, versus 38% of American women. But some people take things further then just having a quick scroll.
It turns out that two out of five men admitted to having masturbated to photos of their coworkers. But women aren’t guilt-free – 42% said they’ve got off to their colleagues’ pictures too. Maybe that’s not surprising. 51% of women surveyed said they assumed people at work had masturbated to their photos, versus 21% of men. So what’s the harm? If we’re all aware – on some level – that our photos may be used for someone else’s wank bank, but that sexual behaviour isn’t popping up within the office, is there an issue?
