Living in a treehouse in Thailand

My thread about living on a boat in Thailand has been roundly condemned by forum members.

So onto plan B - how about living in a tree house in Thailand?

I've always been a country lad and I got interested in tree houses after watching a TV series about building tree houses.

I'm not talking about a little cubby hole for the kids to play in - I mean a 'luxury' tree house, perhaps similar to the photo.

All one would need to do is to long-term lease a plot of land with a large tree, then build the tree house (which doesn't have to be fully supported by the tree), then relax and commune with nature.

One advantage of living in a tree house is that my dysfunctional family would never visit me, because they'd be convinced that I'd finally lost the plot and gone loony.....

I call upon the esteemed forum members to pass their critical opinion as to whether living in a tree is a sound plan
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

Goodluck finding any beefy trees left in this country. The locals have gotten most of the big ones and the ones that are left, are wrapped in silk.

Its a non starter bro. The boat is an entirely better idea, comparatively.

Actually, if you look at that photo, the house is not supported by the trees - they are not huge. Rather, it is a house 'among the trees'.

    Quite doable I think

Im just sitting here chuckling to myself, I mean you basically want to build an elevated Thai stilt house with some trees around it.

In other words, same shit they been doing, for like, ever.

    Man on moon

I like the house-on-stilts design. I'm a country lad, so am quite happy living in the trees.

My last little hotel (I posted some photos during construction) was built in a rubber tree plantation. Plenty of cobra snakes, huge black scorpions etc etc.

Nice place until the drug dealing mafia kicked me out.....

Correct, because otherwise after a few years your house would be all wonky; Trees grow, branches grow at different rates, etc.

I really like the idea of a treehouse. (Stilt house amongst the trees)
Ideally, it would be located at the edge of a jungle where the trees stop and the beach starts.

A house on stilts built among the trees.
Wouldn't snakes and other jungle creatures be a bit of an issue.

Unless you consider them as dinner.

Actually, you may "ignite" Simon's interest, here...Caves are very efficient dwellings...

Very cool in the summer and easy to heat in the winter, though the latter would not be an issue in Thailand...

Or The Hobbit House in FlipperLand...If you must...

Brilliant idea Simon. Don't let the nay Sayers get to you. Enough drone types in this world. Anything different from the established norms for sheeple should be encoraged.

    Or perhaps just thick.
How is the cold treating you? I'd like to get over mine.

I guess it's a bit different from somewhere like Scandinavia or Scotland.
