Mother " Fagin " arrested after teaching children to become thieves .
On January 10 Udon Thani Police arrested a thirty-two year old woman on suspicion of teaching and encouraging her seven and thirteen-year old sons to commit burglary.
The name of the ‘Fagin’ mother has not been released and it is alleged she would ride around, with her young boys, targeting what she believed to be unoccupied houses and then send them to break in and steal whatever they could find.
The mini crime-ring was only caught after she mistakenly targeted a house on a police compound. She was arrested and the children then picked up at a pre-arranged meeting place.
In her defence the woman has claimed she had no choice but to encourage her children to steal after her husband, their father, left her.
A search of her home revealed laptops, smart phones, a stolen motorbike, cash and, sadly two further children aged four and one who had been left alone.
The children have now been taken into the care of social services and will be transferred to an orphanage.
The Thai media is crying ‘shame’ at the situation and are running stories about the degeneration of Thai society and calling the behaviour ‘sick’ and a ‘sad reflection of Thai people.’
