    Weirdo

A month ago we hired a farang to teach English to BD department. During interview he was very presentable and showed adequate knowledge of Business English. The management decided to hire him full time for training BD staff.

Two weeks later one of the BD managers complained that N (his name starts with letter N) was teaching the staff while intoxicated. I called him up to find out but he denied the allegations saying that it could be cos of his mouth-wash or perfume. I took his words and defended him during the meeting.

Yesterday N called in sick. Late in the afternoon he showed up in me office, completely intoxicated. I asked him if he's drunk cos he smells alcohol. His answer was a big NO! Anyway, after discussing few things he left the room. A minute later one of the staff came in to tell me that N's very pissed with someone in the office. I popped out to see what's going on. The guy was in rage. He could hardly walk. I took him back to me office and urged him to stay there. I wanted to drop him at his apartment myself as it's on me way home.

While driving him to his apartment we had this conversation:

Macha: So how are you feeling now?
    N: I am ok.
Macha: Why were you pissed with the guy?
N: Do you know who I am?
Macha: What do you mean (fucking confused)?
N: Sorry Macha I never told you that I am gay.
    Macha: It's alright N.
N: Do you think I am going to give you a blow job (while going down).
Macha: Hey, back off I am driving. What the fuck do you think you are doing?
N: I am not giving you a BJ.
Macha: Don't you fucking dare to .......
    N: I am sorry.

After this there was a pin drop silence. We had no conversation untill his apartment.

Macha: Hey N, your apartment. You better go and get yourself a good sleep.
N: Thanks macha while offering me 200 baht.
Macha: No, no. I don't need that.
N: (suddenly grabs macha's wrist) Come up please.
Macha: (while trying to free his wrist) Piss off N.
    N: No please come up.
    Macha: Fuck off.
    N: I am sorry.

Anyway, the guy's a complete weirdo. I am not sure what to do with him. Sack him?

Actually, he's very qualified and experienced. That's the only thing that's making me to give it a second thought.

showing up at work drunk confronting other staff is gross misconduct. Warrants instant dismissal. Gotta get rid of his type as they give the others a bad or worse than they have already got name.

Actually I agree 100% but some people like to be a little softer and give people chances.

Yeah there is that but this guys been working there for only 1 month. Would I be right in saying that there is normally a three month "probation" period for new employees in Thailand?

Do your staff deserve to have this lying, sexually confused, foulmouthed, alcoholic mood swinger teaching them English?

Would you let Pete Doherty teach the class?

Wouldn't it have been more fun to hand it to him personally?

^ I am a kind of softly softly person like me mate CMN. I might break into tears if I do it myself. The manager will rather do it better than me.

If his conduct reflects on you, and from what you've said so far this new broom is sweeping not very well and seems to be lining up for a major fuckup, why take the chance?

Yes, it will reflect on the babysitter who failed to act when he should have. Been there, I'm a big softy when it comes to it, too.
What more information do you need about the guy, he's a disaster which will happen in the very near future.
