If he's Australian, there's only one thing it can be. Beer!

I only use 3 different bars.
One is quiet and rustic, a bit like me. A proper Aussie owned, blokes type bar. For drinking and sharing tall tales.
Two is a sports bar with a decent mature clientele, not given to boisterous behaviour. Nice mix of Anglos.
Three is a busy bar/restaurant with very attractive and attentive staff. Good mix of patronage from young to older and the occasional tourist.

In all 3 they use my given name. All 3 spell it differently and none of them correctly. It's kind of quaint, and no chance of ID theft.

XXXX - the best of the best. A bit fizzy. Give one a headache next morning. On the other hand, CUB Draught in bottles overcame the above.

When I used to drink the place I frequented most used to put my wifes name on the bill whether she was there or not.

Used to make new staff members look at me worriedly....
