    Cool Corrupt Khvntz undermine democarcy

Loud speaker wife of Labour MP and erstwhile tory certainly knows how to undermine respect fot the "Ma of Caht rooms" House of Commons

Commons Speaker John Bercow has claimed over £1,200 in expenses to attend a MP’s funeral in Manchester.

Mr Bercow travelled with two members of staff to attend a church service and funeral for Paul Goggins, who had served as an MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East before he collapsed while out jogging in January, dying in hospital.

The Speaker spent £112.50 on a four-and-a-half-mile round trip between the Houses of Parliament and Euston Station, according to The Sun.

He then claimed the standard fee, £239.10, for a return train journey to Manchester for himself as well as two members of staff.

However, once in the city, Mr Bercow spent £500 on car travel around the area.

An overnight stay for Mr Bercow and his staff at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, which cost £364, brought the total price for his trip to Manchester up to £1215.60.

A spokeswoman for Mr Bercow said: “The Speaker, representing the House of Commons, attended a church service the evening before Mr Goggins’ funeral, as well as attending the funeral.

“This was a mark of respect to Paul Goggins and his family. The funeral was in Manchester, so travel costs from Westminster were incurred.”

The revelations come after a Freedom of Information request revealed in July that Mr Bercow’s travel and accommodation expenses since the general election in May 2010 totalled over £96,000.

The figures, originally obtained by MailOnline, show a number of business class flights to different destinations around the world, with the most expensive being a return trip to Toronto for Mr Bercow and two staff members, costing £11,252.81.

There are also claims for chauffeur-driven car travel which come to around £16,000, while a two-mile round trip to the offices of Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) – the independent body which monitors MPs’ expenses – apparently cost Mr Bercow £84.31.

During the 2009 expenses scandal, it was revealed that Bercow changed the designation of his second home on more than one occasion – meaning that he avoided paying capital gains tax on the sale of two properties.

He also claimed just under £1,000 to hire an accountant to fill in his tax returns. Bercow denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to pay £6,508 to cover any tax that he may have had to pay to HM Revenue and Customs
