Foreigners busking in Pattaya

I thought I would make this my first '' Hi to every one '' and introduction post . Ive been reading TD for some time but decided to finally post a question about some thing that I can't seem to get a straight answer from my bar stool mates . I'm retired and now living in Pattaya full time , As I take my daily stroll along beach road I am now seeing more and more foreigners busking for money , now I'm all for making a bob or two where ever you can , and good luck to any one who has the courage to stand there in public view . The thing I can't get to grips with is that I'm sure I read some where that a foreigner cannot openly busk on the streets in the hope of making a bob or two. One example ive seen is this man who seems to be a European and openly sets up his music gear not far from the local police station and belts out vocals while playing his electric guitar and keyboard .


So why don't the police or immigration step in , how does he manage to be in the same beach road spot day after day and not get carted off to the local nick .

The man seems to have two performances , mornings and a full blown after dark show with lights and a dancing , where ive seen Thais drop money into the bucket , go figure

I doubt he's be paying a back hander. From my understanding on how police work, here in Thailand, they only do what they're instructed to do. If they're told to go clear all buskers from Beach Road then he's gone. Until then, strum away.

This question of how the man just seems to keep playing away day after day with out being pulled is one of many things I don't understand, like the last time I was in dot com buying a computer part , and the obvious European sales assistant came over and asked me in broken English / Russian , can I help you, WTF
