A sure bet....
Inquiries to RickThai will suffice.
The expert of phonetically spoken/written form of this highly charged term.![]()
I am not bothered, both will do,the Thais will never stop calling you that,so does the spelling in English change anything?
Basically, it came from the word, foreigner, so sound it out...farang is maybe closer in sound, but Thais have trouble with r's, so falang comes out of their mouths...Figuratively speaking, but sometimes literally...heh...
And you can trace it back to Persian, farangi, if you want more etymology...
Rice or Lice ?
makes no difference - you'll still be hungry again an hour later...
^Have them both together and you can't be wrong...
Fly lice, ooops fried rice ,same same.
Flied lice hab but sticky lice no hab.
I believe the r and l are interchangeable.
Must be the same as "krap" and "cup" with the "r's"
Am off now to clean the Lolls Loyce.
