    The Threat

My wifes Aunt has been pretty sick of late.

The aunt has two good for nothing son's, when she became ill, she has been unable to do anything for herself, so we have been helping(mostly my wife).

After a couple of days seeing the son's doing nothing to help i advised wife to have words with them and the extended family.

Well i have seen some persons being treated like dogs, but was noterxpecting what i heard from them, the extended family said they were not willing to help, as the sons where not doing anything. Which is fair enough

The son's said they would help when they had time, they not have jobs, they gamble, because i never wished to upset the old lady, we left it until last night and sat one of the son's down, the other has done a runner.

I said to the son, we have a problem here, no one is helping with your mpther, and we have two kids to tale care of, well i calmly went through it all with him explaining the likelihood his mother would pass away in the future and wouldn't it be better that she didn't die like a dog and her sons showed some love to her blah blah.

Well his answer was my wife should do it and he will help when he can.

Wrong to say why wife responded well you have 20 rai on a shared chanote with me, i tell you what i will do everything for your mama and i will take the lot, you will never get any of it unless you go to law.

Well wifey has a pretty explosive temper, and whoa and behold i thought she was going to kill him,

Funny thing was this morning he was up early making food changing her diaper and giving her a shower, i nearly pissed myself laughing, how long it lasts is to be seen, but his time is up with the wife, good chance if he stops he loses everything.

Anything concerning money and there's always a change of heart.

    You can have these back.

Oh, and maybe a hessian sack and a few metres of water would be the most humane way to deal with the sons?

The aunt should cut the lads out of her will. The shared chanote could be tricky as by law it belongs to the named persons.

the chanote for the land is still in the grandmas name, which is supposed to be between my wifes mum and her sister, most of the other land my wife and i have bought.

Its pretty ironic really as one of the other relatives has come on the scene now to help the old woman, rumour has it that a deal is being cut, that if she helps the old lady, they will get a share of the land.

The funny thing is seems the old lady is getting stronger so they maybe in for a long wait as she can still not walk

Send them a threatening PM, like "I'll fuck you up" or some such.
    They will take the hint.

Sorry, Jack. I misunderstood. I thought your wife was talking to the son (her cousin?) about 20 rai of land they jointly owned. What did you or your wife mean by

"wife responded well you have 20 rai on a shared chanote with me, i tell you what i will do everything for your mama and i will take the lot, you will never get any of it unless you go to law".

cannot say that i agree with you there. for her relatives to say they won't help because her sons won't is, well; fucking despicable from my perspective. Empathy is a emotion that seems to be absent in a surprising large number of people in this country

Its seems the chanote is in the grandmas name, as they have never bothered changing it, though can be transferred, if both parties agree.

Hazz i was trying to understand there point, saying that i find even more profound that one of them has come onto the scene now, as she had the most to say beforehand, I got my little interpreter yesterday to ask how many Rai had she of been offered, she never answered but her face was a picture said it all to me.

Willy if you have a problem with me take it off the board, and bringing your friends into the problem is really somewhat childish.

Funny how farangs attack Thais for fighting in groups seems some have the same idea here.

Sounds like fun Yaso. I agree with hazz on the lack of empathy among many here.
This guy sounds like my BIL. 20 years old, no job, 15 year old pregnant wife also no job. They watch as my FIL busts his hump everyday on the farm. BIL's wife got mad at my wife because the wife asked her to help out around the house and store. She said she couldn't do anything because she is pregnant mind you only 3 months pregnant. Wife has pretty much shunned both since then. I wouldn't really care except they live with us in the FIL's house and are just leeches.
I'm not saying it was Aliens, but it was Aliens!

Bob to be honest i would like to stay out of it, but my thoughts are only for the old lady.

We have feed and helped the old lady for some years now, having to make them do something just shows just how little they think for anything but themselves.

I see some families here that go out of there way to help all family members.

This is no excuse for the old ladies family, but if you have never had anything in your life, and only ever seen Adversity,is it a natural reaction to help.

My thoughts are with you regarding the wife let her deal with it though just advise from the sidelines.

^If you think this is bad, you wait until the old girl dies, theres nothing worse than inheritance for bringing out the worst in people... and it sounds like you have inlaws with a lot of potential.

Personally I would suggest that the aunt should sell everything she has and use the money to pay for a professional nurse or care assistant to look after her and fuck leaving an inheritance to the family. she will have a better life in her remaining days and there won't be a big family bust up over her inheritance. and she could consider doing that rather british poke in the eye to the family of leaving any in heritage thats left to say; kings dog charity.

Not the Thai way I'm afraid The chances of talking the old lady into doing this is about the same odds as winning the Lottery!!

Hazz we tried a couple of years ago to do something along those lines, we told the old lady we would take care of everything, funeral etc, as we wanted everything good for her, not sure what happened, she declined the offer.

As it stands now i would expect her sons to spend least as possible on her funeral and spend the rest on gambling.

Well we tried but has Boloa says same odds as winning the lotto

Yasojack, not trying to be a smart-ass, but whats the difference, she's going to be dead?

Agree with you on increasing the quality of life while living, but after death, it really doesn't matter to her. You're well off according to Thai standards and therefore its seems only right as you say to take over for the family where the funeral costs are concerned. Seems, sadly, only you and your wife actually care about the old Aunt.

Truth be known, she doesn't really care either, she just needs some attention and after death she knows the real fun will begin. Its the "Thai way."

    Best of luck...

very True Itnt, not think she really cares, but its maybe good to know that all is better for you now and getting the attention she never had, makes things a little better in my view that a little love goes a long way.
