Thread: Post Deletions - reasons why would be nice

(If this is in the incorrect forum, please move to the appropriate one)

I had thought that the main difference between TV and here is the relative freedom of expression one has here vis-a-vis TV.

What I have seen, though, is that on TV posts are deleted with the moderator giving reasons as to why they have been deleted . . . which makes one then continue with that 'caution' in mind.

Here, posts are deleted without comment by an unknown moderator . . . leaving one thinking as to why the post was deleted . . . which kind of defeats the purpose of moderation as a guideline (No, not the same as posting rules)

Heck, I'm not complaining as it has only happened to me twice in regard to poking fun at RickThai in his self-bigging shoot-em-up thread, but it would be good to get some moderation, not just silenced censorship.

Self-moderation is the name of the game here, if you can't do it, then you end up in jail forever.

That's pretty much it.

I did post in a thread showing the number of people who were viewing the thread .I Copy and Pasted the
*Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 10 (3 members and 7 guests)* box and this got deleted .
I did post it for a valid reason and I cant work out why it would get deleted .
Any ideas as to why it got deleted?

I think that's spot on but some times it's beyond working out. When that happens you just have to shrug your shoulders and move on. All it takes is a mod who doesn't like you to fuck with you because he's bored.

The more you think about it the more it will piss you off. Just put it down to somebody else being a twat and move on.

DD would only delete extremely harsh stuff. And I mean extreme. The stuff that is getting deleted now is a joke. For example, the thread about the fat red headed stepchild that fell through the roof and died. DD would have joined in on the BS about the story rather then delete it. Case in point, look back at the base jumper who died thread.

And there was a lot of posts that got out of hand or derailed subjects and he would just move them to MKP and put a new title on the thread and let in go on in MKP. He would also give them hilarious names.

The deletion going on lately is bordering on Thai Visa.

Who supports this ? Anyone ?

It seems for a few posters who have been here a while claim there is more deleting and questionable deleting.

I asked Marmite a question in a thread and his response was deleted - and it was a very stupid reason to delete that post.

That was true for the first post, which wasn't offensive, by RickThai . . . and my respnse which may have been (though nothing like some of the vitriol one can see all over the place here).

The second deletion left the quoted text intact.

I'm not whining about it, don't get me wrong, as I don't believe my posts are akin to literary greatness . . . just wondering why TV seems 'moderated' and TD seems controlled

It just means that in that mods opinion, you have stepped over the line with that post.
Reasons won't help as every mod will have a different opinion.
Reasons would then lead to long lengthy debates about modding and build up a stupid mod cult like TV has.

Yes.

And the only way to deal with it is to delete the super extreme stuff. Nothing else.

The stuff Taxtile was saying about the fat red headed stepchild drunken pikey thief is not extreme.

When that nightclub fire in Phuket killed a few frenchman and someone wrote "french fries", that was extreme and DD deleted it. They were just some innocent ppl that died.

Well I put up a related link to a related topic involving a Pierce Morgan interview in the GZ thread that has had a lot more off topic (though this was related to the topic) and inflammatory posts posted in it and it disappeared for no apparent reason?

Actually, being an adult and not a child that just gets reprimanded without an explanation just because, I'd like to know the reasoning behind it going missing?

The impression that most jumps out at me is that it was deleted because it was related to Pierce and he's British and looks an arse, what other reason could possibly have caused it's deletion?

Perhaps because it's Mr Morgan's real name and libel, especially in a pornographic context is a very real concept.
