The Emancipation Of Scampy - Anyone want a funfair job?

My last day with the World Carnival was Sunday March 25th, and so after there was a big party for those of us who are now free. There is however a one month extension but I, like many, have simply had enough.

There are 17 vacancies available for game supervisor or ride operator and the next 'event' will be Shanghai followed by Bangkok for Christmas.

In the South China Morning Post yesterday I read that my boss is being sued for $177 million (HK) - anyway, not my problem.

So, I am now free but I need somewhere to live, somewhere that is cheap and after considering El Salvador, Marakesh and Chernobyl, I have decided to go to the Phillipines (with or without Sandra) and see how things go.

Below is a photo of a ferris wheel but not the one from the carnival I have been working on, this one is in a place called Pripyat and never opened - it has been deserted for 21 years.

"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

i wouldnt mind living in the Flipines but spelling the country's name is just too difficult - how many l's p's and n's should be in it? i usually just guess.

make sure you know are 100% sure on the spelling before you go. and i suppose it might be worth thinking about employment prospects there too.

    "Philippines"
    A male is a Filipino, a female a Filipina.

They do speak English - sort of, which reduces employment prospects for unqualified English teachers.

I will find a cheap hotel and live there until my thousand quid runs out, then I will offer to paint the hotel in exchange for a free room.

Here's a recent pic of Sandra...

...Hopefully she won't have to come to HK to 'work' anymore.

I have the world at my feet, 86 thousand quid in the bank in the UK (which I dunno what to do with) and the Phuket Gazette have asked me to resume my monthly column.

Seriously, what would you do? The Phillipines is gotta be the cheapest place in the reigon in which to contemplate my next move.

It's cheap, it's a new country under my belt and I can have a much needed rest and work on my writing and movies.

The Moog has a copy of Walking With Ladyboys and says I may be able to get a sponsor. After viewing it it said he was more impressed than he could have expected to be and that it was my key to a better life, so I must also get it on YouTube A.S.A.P. but it's 22mins long and the limit is 10 - so any computer bods viewing this, let me know if there's a way around this.

Sandra's looking a bit ropey in that pic Scampie. Who is she on the phone to? Don't trust the bitch she's after your 86k mate and will murder you when you get to the Phillipines after she marries you for the dosh or you find out she's really a he.

Ladyboys are sometimes called Billyboys in the Fil's, although that term can apply to effeminate gays too.
The actual term for a Filipine Katoey is a 'Bakla'. Not sure about the speliing though.

R.E. Walking With Ladyboys - Just found out that a couple of my colleagues have burned off copies and one was given to the landlord of the Old China Hand who has passed it on to the programme operations manager at the National geographic Channel - who's boss is a Chinese katoey!

I personally don't think it's good enough for TV because if I was somebody else I would say that it doesn't really know what it wants to be, as it briefly features interviews with that sculptor on Samui who makes them movie monsters from junk metal, the only farang woman to drive a songteaw and an American sealion trainer, I also think there is not enough dialogue and too much 'music video padding', however - as long as people know that it didn't set out to be a documentary, a bit like Ready Steady Cook - I just threw together the ingredients I had and came up with it.

I will try now to get it on YouTube, though no idea how to split it.

Here's a picture of me on my last day at work.

    UPDATE:

    (To YouTube 'Contact Us' address)

Hi, I have only been making movies since I got my Apple laptop in May but I have produced a 22 minute documentary which I have been urged by friends and colleagues to put onto YouTube as it could be the beginning of a new career for me, something I desperatly need right now as i have just finished work in Hong Kong and am about to go and live in the Phillipines - a place I've never been -with very little money.

Despite being a gifted new film maker, sadly I am not that computer savvy and 'Safari could not pen page' when i tried to upload from my i-movies folder.

My other big concern is that my film exceeds the ten minute limit, it is about 22 minutes altogether and I have no idea how to 'chop' it up without wasting a couple of days re-editing the whole thing.

I have agonized over this for almost a month and I really need your help. Is there any way I could have the whole movie uploaded in one piece? I do not have a credit card but I can promise you I would not waste your bandwith with any junk.

I am just a guy who's been away from home (UK) too long to go back and your wonderful site seems to be my best hope in finding a job which could utilize my newly found skills.

    Please help,

    Yours sincerely,

    My name

Scamp I'm not sure you have to give your life story when you ask youtube a question.

There's already docus on there that are longer than 10 mins, and it explains somewhere on the website how to do it. Have you had a look for the extra info?

Alternatively it should be easy enough to chop up in Adobe Premiere, so make it a three parter at 7-8 mins each, or cut a couple more minutes and run a 2 parter.

Sorry Scamp, just had a look for you, looks like they changed polices a while back because most vids that were over 10 mins were movies and programmes that screwed with their copyright laws. I guess its the new google influence.

    YouTube 10+ Minute Account Registration

We are no longer offering the option to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. You can, however, easily change your account type in your profile to Director, Comedian, Musician, or Guru, which offer a variety of features like a custom logo, tour date information, and links to other websites.
Looks like its back to the editing board.

A very 'new' filmmaker indeed, who can't cut a clip "without wasting a couple of days re-editing".
