I aint got any kids frisco, though I think I can see it from a parents perspective as well. The way I see it no one should have their life stopped through errant behaviour. We just dont know enough about human mental illness. Sure it is a quick fix and prolly a deterrent but these guys re offend continually. What if in 19 years time we discover, as a race, that these poor guys needed to have some simple brain re alignment and that they did what they did and couldn't help themselves.

Feelings run high on this issue frisco. All I am asking is that we apply lateral thinking. Sure as shit their actions have to be stopped but stopping their lives seems quite ignorant to me. It is abhorent but we have to find a way to prevent them from their own behaviour. Killing folks just aint on I am afraid.

You well know my thoughts on capital punishment cap and I'm not going to broaden the argument here (when you're here and relaxed i reckon we can have a proper discussion over this) so in this case I'm not an advocate of the death penalty. Life, sure why not! But if the laws in Vietnam, as they exist in Singapore, allow GG to get the firing squad I won't shed a tear.

I look forward to that conversation Pooly as I think that we have a great deal that we share and in common. All I can say is that if I were to shed a tear it would not be for GG but for our society and its ignorant approach to something that we clearly are yet to understand fully.

You have asked so I will answer dog. I believe that these guys suffer from an illness. Not dissimilar to the horny feeling that you and I get when we want to shag some bird who has a decent rack and gives you the come on. To my way of thinking this 'lust' is the same except for the fact that pedo's are turned on by kiddies which just aint on. What I am saying is that in time we, as a race, might come to understand why these sickoes have that same lust all twisted up and we might find some way, maybe a chemical, that might correct this obviously errant behaviour.

Killing folks because they have an illness or some kinda chemical inbalance just aint right. It is a kneejerk reaction to something that we are yet to understand.

Yes and I am all for chemical castration with these foks. Killing em just aint on though. Fok me, the guy is 61 years old so fathering children is unlikely to be on his agenda anyway. Chemically take away his thirst and the problem is solved.

Was being flippant with the retort but I am not so sure that if the opportunity presented it self where I would stop. That his ability to perform such atrocities should be taken away is a given. That I might want to punish him in a very severe and decisive way also true.
That this man has shattered any chance at a normal and healthy life require retribution and prevention of repetition above any and all other considerations. State sanctioned murder? In reality, no. Castration? definitely.
When my daughter was 10 a young (14 yr old) boy was caught waving his tallywhacker at her. The neighbor that caught him, afraid to tell me, called the cops. Upsetting, but hardly sexual abuse or pedophilia or life a shattering experience. The kid was charged and given probation he then had "sexual offender" attached to his jacket. We, as a society, go overboard in cases such as this, then the next day we do little or nothing n much more serious cases.
What this mature experienced man has done is an abomination, he chose to fiddle with the life of a young innocent 11 year-old girl. I was told by the cops that generally pedophiles usually are victims of pedophilia themselves. Maybe required counseling and some sort of trauma intervention for victims at the time would, in the long term, provide an answer to prevention question. Perhaps in 20 years we will find a way to correct these sick folks; until then? Remove the offending organs, lock 'em away to endure the same hell they have brought upon the innocent.
Truth be told, if it were a 61 year old man that was waving his member at my daughter I doubt he would have survived.
Someone I consider a friend, someone I've known since he was 12 years old, awaits death in San Quentin. I'm of the same mind as poolie, don't want go into the discussion of the death penalty here; an emotional and deeply divisive issue, better seriously discussed over a pint or two in comfortable and congenial surroundings.
