Another great Thai Boxing training session

I went for another training session, my 7th time, a lot of progress.

The trainer reckon I am a natural, he says I have a lot of rage and I hit already like a pro. I have to agree, watching myself in the long mirror, my movements have become precise and focused, I am quite impressed with myself. When I am giving those punch, I just want to kill.

They already want me to join them in the ring. I reckon they are going to kick my arse if I do

^Do they use the mouth in Muay Thai?

'Muay' also sounds like 'pubic hair' by the way.

I can certainly see that. Now that I can kick and punch effectively, it just becomes a motivation. It's awakening the beast in me

What a beautiful sport, kicking some real ass !!!

And when you go out, you notice that people just don't bother messing with you, it creates an aura of great self (non-smug) confidence.

Pat, that aura is nothing to do with fighting.

I thought you had been practicing Muay Thai for a while?

I train 3x per week- it's an amazing work-out, especially when you get good enough to spar effectively (though 'rage' and 'wanting to kill' are only going to get your ass kicked- the only time I can really rock my trainer is if he loses control a bit after I land a few good kicks or punches on him- when he's calm and methodical it's almost impossible to land anything decent on him).
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

it's the best work-out, and yes the rage thing is a beginner flaw, and hopefully being calm and methodical will be the way to go. I guess we have to go through different stages first. For now I am more concerned about the tenor of my movements more than anything, and for that I need to kill

    That's 'professor' to you, Chienne...

Now, you saddo, I know you think you're tough, but it is so very pathetic. You are a wimp. The Thais are kindly taking your money while laughing at your girly manner. Frankly, they have probably never seen such a pathetic attempt at their sport, and the way you spend most of your time admiring yourself in the mirror (when you're not at California WOW, with the 'boys' doing the same), astounds them, but not in a positive way...

Where do you train? I am happy to bring my beer bellied chavness down and show you the reality of your 'skills'...

    ^^

I used to feel the same way when I started- using all my strength, straining and grunting with punches and kicks- when my trainer would see my face tense up he'd smack me in the side of the head with one of the pads- 'Relax!'- that helped a lot.

It took a while, but once I loosened up, I got better and actually landed much more effective kicks as my leg control improved (kind of like golf- a perfect easy swing will drive the ball further than a strong imperfect one)- I finally started getting that perfect thwack upon contact with the pad.

Keep it up- I wish I had gotten into Muay Thai years earlier.

yes, I was going to make the same comparison with golf, you need to be smooth and elegant with each movement

I wish I had started 10 years ago, I am a bit too old now to start Thai boxing real combat

I'm in the same boat- I will probably enter the ring for real in early 2011 at least once, though- I've gotta give it a try at least once while I'm still in good enough shape to go a few rounds.
