In 1432 the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most revered Buddha figure, was discovered in Chiang Rai, when an earthquake split the Chedi at Wat Phra Kaeo. The beautiful jade figure was then seen concealed within.

Terrorist attacks on tourists? Never. Not yet, anyway, though one must agree that it could happen in any country, anywhere.
Hat yai airport bombing at least one american woman was injured
Heres a good one tsunamis, thailand had one, the UK never have
farangs executed by police, erm erm, yep both UK and Thailand...
Well, what about a tsunami? Yes, we had one, as did other nations. Though we are not expected to have another one for at least another century, excellent early warning systems have been put in place to protect anyone who might find himself or herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, should another one actually occur.
Smith: Tsunami warning system still ineffective
(dpa) - With only one tsunami detection buoy floating in the Indian Ocean, South-East Asia is still in danger of being taken unawares by a tidal wave triggered by a quake off the southern coast of Burma, the chief of disaster prevention warned Monday.

Canadian among people killed in south Thailand blasts
HAT YAI - Four people, including two foreigners, were killed overnight after five bombs ripped through a popular tourist area in Thailand's mostly-Muslim south, police said Sunday.
Two, including a Canadian holidaymaker, were killed instantly by the multiple blasts, police told AFP, adding that two more later died of their injuries.
Now if you wern't so lazy smeggy you would have copied and pasted the whole text and put appropiate links in proving the lies, but your just too damn lazy...

actually last year there was an earthquake in Chiang mai I believe, every country has earth quakes, or seismic movement.
Meanwhile, a cremation ceremony for 30 year old Canadian teacher Jesse Lee Daniel - the first Westerner to die in the protracted deep South insurgency - was held yesterday at Wat Khok Samankhun. His students and colleagues were among the mourners.
Daniel lived with his aunt in Canada before landing a job teaching English at Phol Wittaya School in Hat Yai in April.
His relatives were today taking his ashes back to Canada.
Feck dirty dog, that is cheating, finding lots of items of evidence of a single lie. You will have to try harder if you want me.
Meanwhile I'm off to find some more lies to get my score up, because self-abuse seems better than the alternative.
Probably due to the new visa laws and that little thing about teachers being proper teachers and that. There has never been a better time to find good employment in Thailand! This is the only conclusion to be drawn from the recent announcement by Mr Philip Williams, webmaster of www.ajarn.com, that more than 400 job opportunities had recently been posted in a very short time, a huge record for Thailand. Our own Academy has also been affected, needing more trained teachers for our classes in all four of our provincial locations than were available – despite our own teacher training course!
If your black or philpino though please don't waste your time contacting him.For the benefit of persons 'not in the know', Ajarn.com - living and teaching in Bangkok is THE teacher's web site in Thailand: where teachers go to find jobs, advice about living in Thailand, or anything else of interest to teachers.
Should anyone wish to contact Mr Williams about this teacher shortage, he can be reached via: [email protected].
While the pay for teachers in Thailand is not as high as in many other places,
First true statement.
the cost of living is a lot less, too – which means that money can go a long, long way here, if you're careful,
while you're teaching and living a good life among some wonderful people and students.
Yes thats why most of these teachers spend most of their lives complaining about their students.
Finally, apart from wanting to save up "a bag-full of money"
Yes unfortuneately doing a 20 hour course aint gonna make you rich, let alone wealthy.
elsewhere, are there any reasons why you would want to stay away from Thailand at this wonderful time?
- Let's see. Tornados or cyclones? Thailand has never had one. What about your country?
- Earthquakes? Thailand has never had one? And your country?
- Hurricanes? Nearby, yes, but not in Thailand. (If you live in Florida, you will appreciate that!)
- Terrorist attacks on tourists? Never. Not yet, anyway, though one must agree that it could happen in any country, anywhere.
What about the unrest and killings in Southern Thailand? These tragic events don't affect the rest of the country, but occur in the provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala, all of which are Muslim areas wishing to secede and form an independent state. This, of course, is not the only problem in these troubled areas, but none have shown an interest in exporting their violence to other parts of Thailand.
Well, what about a tsunami? Yes, we had one, as did other nations. Though we are not expected to have another one for at least another century, excellent early warning systems have been put in place to protect anyone who might find himself or herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, should another one actually occur.
Finally, despite a bit of government bickering (not at all unusual in other parts of the world, as well), and some nasty violence in the deep South, we can say along with all the other "old hands" of Thailand:
There is no safer place on earth than Thailand to walk alone at midnight !
anybody else wanna finish this off?
