    Dating a Chinese woman

I'm American, living in the States, and I've recently begun dating a college professor from China. I'm a little more in tune with the world outside of the USA than most Americans, and we're getting along well, but I would like to know more about Chinese culture so I don't inadvertently offend, etc..

I know Thailand isn't China, but I'm guessing members of this site may have more knowledge of China and Chinese women than me. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Just remember their vaginas are sideways. Apart from that, they are mostly the same.

First thing you will need is a thick skin since TD posters pull no punches and like to make fun of anyone coming from North America. Other than that, talk with your lady and explain you would like to learn more about her culture and what is acceptable and what is not. If you are getting along like you describe, this will show her you are serious and want to understand Chinese etiquette.

From an early age, they are all trained in Wing Chun-Kung Fu, which means they're hard as fuck.
She may look small, light, sweet & innocent, but she could easily beat the crap out of you.

i dated a chinese lady for a while in Australia, she was on a visa and the pressure to i received to marry her so she could stay in Oz was imense, her attitude was that love will grow, and mine was slow down a bit, therfore what may have been did not eventuate as the visa issue closed it all down, so sorry i cant help you too much on culture issues, but the 3 months we had were not that different from dateing any asian girl, familly is first, second and third.

Suggest that you go out on a romantic dinner together to a posh Chinese restaurant and amaze the staff and your new g/f with hilarious "flied lice" jokes.

She's determined to get tenure and she has 3 more years to go. As long as she keeps her teaching position her Visa renewal will not be an issue, so there should be plenty of time in that regard. She's an only child and her parents still live in China, so I won't be seeing the family any time soon.

She just texted me, and wants to give me a massage when we get together in a couple days. She asked if I would mind her sitting on top of me while she's giving me a massage. Really?

After years of dating stupid, spoiled, selfish American bitches I'm finding this a very refreshing change, so far.

Hmmm...I'm 4 for 4 in that regard, so I'll keep my radar on. Of course, American women are superficial as hell so it's really not that different.

The light finally came on then. You will now enter the world of asian beauty and by that I mean not just physical beauty even though I am sure she is very good looking and exotic. Enjoy the massage.

Run, man. Run! If you value what is left of your dignity (and testicles), run.

My boss married a dragon and he is just a shell of his former self.

No, that's not her. It's just a testament to my fondness for Asian women. But she does look good. I'll try to get some photos in the appropriate thread soon.

This woman would have to work awfully hard to screw me over more than my American ex-wife did years ago. Life is full of risks, so for now I'm just going to let her cook me dinner and give me a massage in a couple days and we'll see what happens.

But I always appreciate advice. Thanks.

Go with the flow and see what happens. Chinese women are pretty much like any others. I have lived in Asia for forty years or more, and personally don't find Chinese women as attractive as many other Asian women, but I am comparing them to Asians, not American women. Given your circumstances, I imagine she does well in comparison. I just turned down free round-trip business class tickets and hotel in Hong Kong for three days - a client wanted a meeting. I sent my Filipino partner instead. When he asked why, I responded that Hong Kong was like an anthill you just stirred with a stick, full of very rude ants. Chinese women can be very status and money conscious, but most women are pretty much like that unless you end up with an exceptional one. She has a good job, and no family pressure - she might just be lonely and looking for a good man. If you fit that bill, things might work out well. Best of luck; we look forward to a post-massage report.

Catch a fly with a pair of chop-sticks before proudly announcing - 'Man who catch fly with chopstick can accomplish anything'. Then go and wax a few cars and paint a few fences. You'll look like egg foo young to her after that.

Or is that the Japs, I cannae remember.

The Chinese think that a fart is a unique sign of their own metabolism and therefore should be rejoiced.

A generalization but accurate in my experience. As with women anywhere each are individuals. The significant cultural difference between Western and Chinese (Asian) is family harmony. Family harmony is highest priority for Asians so expect much of what she does will be to maintain harmony with her family. If at some point a full time relationship is established, keep in mind the relationship is not just with her but with her family so "knowing" her family is as important as knowing her.

And burping/belching after a meal is a compliment to the cook...
