    The Greatest MotoGP race ever....

I will say that if Wayne Rainy would not have had his accident in '93 Mick Doohan would not have had 5 championships. As a matter of fact he may have had no championships at all.

I would guess that you have not a foking clue what you are talking about.

Do you disagree that this was the greatest race of the modern times?

Well let me help you ,

your suggestion that Doohan would not have won a single championship is simply laughable .

laughable - So ludicrous as to be amusing.

"Mick and I had some good races and I respect him as a rider. With Mick you know he's never going to give up. That's great in many ways, but it can also get you into trouble because you never back off. You have to be careful, but you have to win."
Wayne Rainey (Former 500cc World Champion).

Allright Allright. I am on the piss. Mick was a great rider and a tough sob. But you must give due respect to Wayne. He was on his way to a dominate streak that could have meant several more championships.

Rainey would probably have won at least one more championship had he not been paralyzed- Doohan was amazing, but Rainey was more of a racing tactician and more fun to watch (imho)- I think Doohan would have enjoyed the rivalry as well had it continued- they were both great competitors.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

This "what if" talk reeks of sour grapes.

Mick Doohan has had heaps of serious accidents which would of ended the career of many other mortal drivers but in spite of this he continued to win.

Both drivers were brilliant and as always the difference (micro-seconds) could of been attributed to the bike and the supporting team.

I think you'll find that all drivers, if of the human persuasion, are mortal.

Though I'm happy to be proved wrong.

    I disagree.
1979 British Grand Prix. Kenny Roberts vs Barry Sheene. Battle royale. The race would go down in history as one of the best, if not the best outright, race of the 1970s. To this day the race is argued over in bars around the world, no fan of modern superbike racing is a real fan until they’ve seen this race. Twice.

Yes Doohan also had a big smash that may have ended a lesser mans career although he didn't pay the price that Rainey had to.

If I remember correctly he had his broken foot (which he very nearly lost altogether) set in a position that enabled him to ride the bike although he couldn't hardly walk that way nor could he operate the rear brake so they fitted a snowmobile throttle on the bars to operate the rear brake and he carried on winning races and the championship that year. Other riders even tried the set up believing it was a better way to brake...

Arguably it was one of the most gutsy effort to keep going after injury in the history of MotoGP considering Honda were now using the "Big Bang" 2 stroke engines at that time which proved to be better than what Yamaha had so I think as far as Rainey beating Mick had he not had his crash?

    Nah.

Well Thailand would've won the last world cup if only they scored more goals than every other team that they played.

    But guess what... they didn't..

Sorry klong, I watched this race and can't see anything in it that would justify your praise. Sheene followed Roberts for most of the race, looked like he could have overtaken him at any time as he kept sitting up in the saddle in the straights, but he didn't overtake. Then the race ended. Nothing thrilling about the race at all. I have seen many better races in the modern era.
Don't get me wrong, I am a great fan of Barry Sheene, got his autograph at the Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix in 1999.
