English fans in 'rip-off'
ENGLAND’S leading football clubs are charging the highest ticket prices in Europe, a study revealed yesterday.
Fans of Arsenal shell out a massive £885 for the CHEAPEST season tickets to watch the Gunners.
That’s more than TEN TIMES the £85 supporters pay for the cheap seats at Italian legends AC Milan.
And it is roughly eight times the amount paid by Dutch supporters to watch Ajax in Amsterdam.
Last night angry MPs demanded urgent FA action to aid hard-hit fans.
Lib-Dem sport spokesman Don Foster, who unearthed the figures, said: “This shows that rip-off Britain is alive and kicking in English football.”
The survey checked the prices of the cheapest season tickets at the top two clubs in every major European league.
At £650, Chelsea’s prices dwarfed those at the dearest top club outside Britain — Olympiakos of Greece.
The average cheap seat at Chelsea and Arsenal cost £768 — more than six times the combined average paid by fans of Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan.
