Well it was worth a try.

But really, Brits drinking a particular brand of piss weak tasteless, gassy Aussie lager that isn't available in Australia anymore means...what, again?

Just to remind you of your actual oft repeated 'point'.

Shaun Marsh ruled out and Glenn Maxwell injured in fiery practice session at Old Trafford

A brutal training session in Manchester has left Shaun Marsh with a fractured arm, ending his World Cup campaign.

    Key points

    • Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh were both injured during the same practice session at Old Trafford
    • Marsh has been ruled out of the tournament while Maxwell will continue to be monitored
    • Victoria's Peter Handscomb has been named as Marsh's replacement

Marsh was struck by a short ball from Pat Cummins while batting in the nets.
Glenn Maxwell was also the victim of friendly fire, yelling in pain after being hit by a Mitchell Starc delivery.

Both batsmen were taken to hospital.
While Maxwell was cleared of serious injury, the news was not so good for Marsh.

"Shaun Marsh has had scans on his right forearm," Australian coach Justin Langer said.

"Unfortunately, the scans have revealed Shaun has suffered a fracture to his forearm which will require surgery.

"This is obviously shattering news for Shaun and the squad. We are right behind Shaun in his recovery and rehabilitation."

The ICC has approved Cricket Australia's request for Victorian batsman Peter Handscomb to replace Marsh in the squad.

    Tonight ... vs

Usual time, in about 2 hours.

Pakistan will give it their all in their final group game on Friday despite needing "a miracle" to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals, says captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
The 1992 champions need to beat Bangladesh by a margin of at least 316 runs to qualify instead of New Zealand.

And, if Bangladesh bat first on Friday, Pakistan will not be able to catch New Zealand regardless of the result.
"We will do our best to end on a high," wicketkeeper Sarfaraz said.

Allah fronting up for Pakistan, an all-rounder I guess?

"We will do our best to win the last game as well to end on a high and we will do our best to achieve that but we need to be realistic, but if Allah helps then miracles can happen."

So they need 400-450 and currently have 7 runs after 2 overs; they'll be needing to up the run rate a bit...

Looking at the few matches which were given as draws, one point each team, due to the weather - New Zealand are probably lucky to be ahead of Pakistan in the standings, imho. I can't see New Zealand beating the convicts in the semis (Pakistan maybe could have; they are capable of beating anybody, except India... , on their day). New Zealand haven't really done anything to show they could beat England, Australia or India in a final.

Whoever wins the other semi, be it India or England, it'll be a good final against the Convicts with any of the three possible winners. I call it pretty even from here, with perhaps the Convicts having the edge, depending on injuries, luck...

^^Presuming Pakistan go on and win this they can probably feel aggrieved not to be in semis basically all due to the game against the West Indies which seriously fucked their NRR. Surely a fairer way would be if teams are level on points then it's the head to head that should count as opposed to NRR. Obviously if game between 2 on level points was a draw then use NRR.

Yes. It's kinda fair to make it a point each draw, but not when it's close at getting into the top 4. Maybe they could do a position 4 to 8 play-off before the semis although with the English/Welsh weather that may just make it worse...

    H2H would definitely be fairer.

Especially considering the fact that some results were distorted by Duckworth Lewis.

Some fairly low 300+ first innings scores have been plenty in this WC, some pitches seem to be slowing up during the day.

I kinda expected results like 370 losing to a team batting second and getting the score in 46 overs, but that hasn't really happened.
