    Nfl 2024 2025

The NFL preseason starts the week of August 9, with the first regular season game slated for Thursday, September 5, 2024.

2024 NFL Draft grades for all 32 teams

    One of many.........

Miami Dolphins - Overall grade: B+

It's a strong draft haul for the Dolphins. They found a potential 10-sack edge rusher with Chop Robinson in the first round and grabbed a future starter at offensive tackle with Patrick Paul. Their trade-up for Jaylen Wright in the fourth was perplexing. Overall this is still a good group of players. Malik Washington and Tahj Washington are two wide receivers who had a lot of buzz in college and could compete for reps behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The Ravens just became the first team to sign a first-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft.

Baltimore inked cornerback Nate Wiggins to his rookie deal on Thursday, per the league transaction wire.

Wiggins, the No. 30 overall pick out of Clemson, was the third CB off the board last week and quickly signed on the line to join a secondary long known for its lockdown capabilities.

Baltimore's defense ranked first in scoring overall last season, sixth in yards allowed through the air and second in passing touchdowns surrendered.

Wiggins brings an enviable dash of speed to a secondary group led by Marlon Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams, as his 4.28 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine was tops at his position. He made first-team All-ACC in his final year at Clemson and led the Tigers in passes defensed his last two seasons, with 12 and nine, respectively. Although Wiggins logged only three interceptions in his career, he took two back for scores.

He wasn't the only rookie signee for Baltimore on Thursday, either.

The Ravens also signed offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten (No. 62 overall), CB T.J. Tampa (No. 130) and safety Kane Sanoussi (No. 250).

All four players will join their other incoming teammates at Baltimore's rookie minicamp from May 3-5.

Odell Beckham's looking to make a splash in South Beach.

The star receiver's next stop will be in Miami, as Beckham is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Dolphins worth up to $8.25 million, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Friday, per sources.

The 31-year-old three-time Pro Bowler is now set to play for his fifth NFL team. Over the past three years, Beckham has been on three rosters – the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens – and played in just 28 games.

Now, Beckham and the Fins will look to find the fountain of past form as he'll be slotted as the team's No. 3 receiver behind speedy standouts Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Though Beckham and the Dolphins have been linked for a while, it's a somewhat surprising signing following the 2024 NFL Draft, as Miami added Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington and USC WR Tahj Washington with sixth- and seventh-round selections.

Head coach Mike McDaniel's offense can never have too many options, it would seem.

    _________

The Seahawks signed nose tackle Buddha Jones on Sunday, one day after the undrafted rookie out of Troy finished taking part in Seattle's rookie minicamp as a tryout player.

Jones, who is 6-foot-1, 307 pounds, played the last three seasons at Troy after beginning his college career at Kent State. Over the last two seasons, Jones appeared in 28 games, recording 57 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

The addition of Jones gives the Seahawks 90 players on their roster, including 17 undrafted rookie free agents, though they are allowed to carry 91 players, as they receive a roster exemption for Italian tackle Max Pircher, who is part of the league's International Player Pathway program.

    ___________

The Eagles have signed another one of their draft picks.

Fifth-round guard Trevor Keegan has signed his four-year deal with the team. Sixth-round wideout Johnny Wilson has also signed his rookie contract.

Keegan was a three-year starter at left guard at Michigan and was part of an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award as the best in the nation for two of those seasons. Keegan was a captain for the Wolverines during their run to the national title last year.

Cam Jurgens’s move to center leaves an opening at right guard for the Eagles. Tyler Steen and Matt Hennessey are experienced options, but Keegan could work his way into consideration with a strong camp and preseason.

Chargers sign pass rusher Bud Dupree to two-year deal worth up to $10 million

The Chargers aren't done fortifying their roster with the draft passed and rookie minicamp underway.

Los Angeles signed pass rusher Bud Dupree to a two-year, $6 million deal that can be worth up to $10 million, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.

The team confirmed Dupree's signing shortly after.

The decision to move out west provides Dupree his third home in as many years, which comes after he experienced a slight resurgence on the Atlanta Falcons following two injury-affected seasons as a Tennessee Titan.

Dupree tallied 6.5 sacks in 2023, the third most of his career, and delivered 39 tackles -- four more than what he produced in his two prior seasons combined. He added three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and eight quarterback hits in 16 starts.

His sack total last season also bumped him to 53 in his career, placing him in the 50-club with his new teammates Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, who have 67 and 101.5, respectively.

Coach Jim Harbaugh and Co. likely plan to use the 31-year-old as a rotational piece behind those two as they look to improve a unit that ranked 24th in scoring and 28th in yards allowed last season under the old guard.

    ________

Broncos sign QB Bo Nix, No. 12 overall pick, to rookie contract

The last of six historic quarterbacks selected in the 2024 NFL Draft's first dozen picks, Bo Nix is the first among them to ink his rookie deal.

Denver has signed Nix to a four-year rookie contract that includes a fifth-year option, the team announced.

The Broncos took Nix at No. 12 overall with the intent to replace the departed Russell Wilson and install Nix as the next true franchise QB for a club that's been lacking one since the days of Peyton Manning.

Nix, on the older side for a rookie at 24, spent three seasons with Auburn and two more with Oregon, finishing his collegiate career with 1,936 passing yards, 85 touchdowns and 26 interceptions in 61 games played.

A Heisman finalist in his final season for the Ducks, Nix joins a QB room made up of Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, both previous starters but probable to sit behind the rookie from the start as head coach Sean Payton looks to find his match like he did with Drew Brees in 15 seasons leading the New Orleans Saints.

Inking a pact is one step in the process down.

With the paperwork out of the way, Nix can now focus on the offseason program and eventually proving Denver right to nab him early in the draft.

NFL Rumors: Lions' Jared Goff Expected to be Next QB to Score $50M+ Megadeal Contract

The Detroit Lions are reportedly ready to commit to Jared Goff as their franchise quarterback moving forward.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter on Sunday that Goff is next in line among quarterbacks to strike a long-term contract with his franchise.

The Lions are on record that Jared Goff, signing him to an extension, is a 'high priority' so they are working on this. The feeling around the league from the people I've talked to is that Goff will be the next quarterback to score that megadeal. You've got Tua Tagovailoa in Miami, Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, some others like maybe Dak Prescott down the road but Goff and the Lions seem to be the closest. Nothing imminent right now but they insist this is something they've been talking about, and the Lions are committed to keeping their core together. Amon-Ra St. Brown, kept him on a huge four-year deal, right tackle Penei Sewell four-year deal, so Goff could be the next with a four-year deal. The market is pretty clear, though. You're looking at $50-plus million for a lot of these quarterbacks per year. We'll see how far the Lions are willing to go.

Goff is set to make $22.3 million in base salary next season and already earned a $5 million roster bonus. His total cash earnings for 2024 rank him 17th among quarterbacks.

Goff's new contract should more than double his expected 2024 earnings on a yearly basis. Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow have all signed deals for more than $50 million per season over the last year. While Goff isn't quite on their tier among quarterbacks, his best comp may be Kirk Cousins, who landed $45 million per season this offseason from the Atlanta Falcons.
    __________

    Browns sign QB Jacob Sirmon

The Browns have added another quarterback to their 90-man roster.

The team announced that they have signed Jacob Sirmon after a tryout at this weekend’s rookie minicamp. They did not announce any corresponding moves.

Sirmon spent time at Washington and Central Michigan before wrapping up his time in college at Northern Colorado. He threw for 1,206 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games during the 2023 season.

The Browns also have Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Tyler Huntley, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson on the roster at quarterback at the moment. Teams don’t generally keep five quarterbacks on the roster, but Watson is returning from shoulder surgery and Thompson-Robinson suffered a hip injury late in the regular season so the Browns may want to limit them at points during the offseason program.

    ___________

Detroit Lions reportedly signing rookie minicamp tryout WR Kaden Davis

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions are signing wide receiver Kaden Davis to their 90-man roster. Davis was with the team this weekend as part of their rookie minicamp tryout squad. He was notably the intended receiver on a pass that was picked off by Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold. Davis initially beats Arnold on the crosser, but as the play breaks down, he couldn’t break free on a downfield route.

Davis entered the league in 2022 as an undrafted receiver out of Northwest Missouri State. He spent his rookie season on and off the Denver Broncos practice squad but was far more active in 2023. First, he was part of the Michigan Panthers team, playing in five games at the USFL level. As the primary kickoff returner, Davis totaled 311 yards on 12 attempts (25.9 average), while also adding eight catches for 83 years.

After the USFL season was over, Davis joined the Arizona Cardinals. He spent the entire season on their practice squad but was elevated for one game in December (although he did not end up making it on the field). In the preseason, though, Davis caught eight passes for 73 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 27 yards on two punt returns.

    ____________

Steelers sign CB Anthony Averett after minicamp tryout

Cornerback Anthony Averett spent the weekend taking part in the Steelers’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and he will be sticking around a while longer.

Agent Chad Wiestling told PFT that the Steelers have signed Averett to a one-year deal after watching him work out with the team.

Averett spent time with the 49ers and Lions last season, but did not see any action in the regular season. He played seven games and made six starts for the Raiders in 2022 and he started 21 of the 44 games he played for the Raiders between 2018 and 2021.

Averett has 114 tackles, three interceptions, and 23 passes defensed over the course of his career.

Ex-49ers DE Chase Young reaches 1-year, $13 million deal with New Orleans Saints

Chase Young is still just 24 years old.

It seems like he has been around longer than that, mostly because his NFL career has had so many turns. He was an immediate star with the Washington Commanders after being the second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, then disappeared for a while due to injuries. He was traded to the San Francisco 49ers last season and didn't have much impact with them until showing up with a sack and some other splash plays in the Super Bowl.

Young is now on to the next chapter of his NFL career. The New Orleans Saints reached a deal with Young on Monday afternoon.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the two sides reached a one-year, fully guaranteed $13 million deal.

There's still the hope, including from Young himself, that he can be the player who was so impressive at Ohio State and as a rookie in Washington.

Bucs Antoine Winfield Jr. makes NFL history with multi-million dollar deal

A year to the date after making his bold prediction on social media that he wanted to be named All-Pro and become the highest paid safety, the Bucs held a press conference to formally announce Antoine Winfield Jr. as the highest paid defensive back in NFL history.

    It's a 4-year deal worth $84.1 million dollars.

"I don't even know how to explain it," Winfield Jr. told FOX 13 Sports. "It's very surreal, but I know one thing I did do. I went to my calculator and typed in the contract. I'm like wow, that's insane."

Winfield Jr. manifested it and earned it. In just four years in the league, he's already put together a career resume.

Winfield Jr. has won a Super Bowl, was named an All-Pro and is the only player in NFL history to record 100 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in a season. And he's far from satisfied.

"I'm still going to continue to go out here perform and play hard," Winfield Jr. said. "That's just something that's in my DNA."
