On paper , I believed in this team more than you ever did. But the playoffs are just a crapshoot. And in a crapshoot, I don't like Vancouvers chances.

^ The Canucks powerplay was the best in the league at the start of the season if I recall. So the team has the horses for a powerplay. Granted that was with Kuzmenko. He was replaced by Lindholm who was a 40 goal scorer in this league.

Either way , I maintain that the playoffs are a crapshoot. Only the best team can win a presidents trophy. The Sedin team won 2 of them. But the best teams don't always make it to the SCF

Hell , remember the 2006 Oilers ? A total Yahoo team. They beat the Thorton/Marleau Sharks. And the Yzerman/Lidstrom Red Wings. And the Ducks. Yet that team couldn't win a presidents if it was tried a million times. And the playoffs are filled with stories like this year after year.

I will still be happy if the Canucks win a cup in my lifetime. But it won't be because they finally constructed the perfect team.

It's impossible to build a perfect team with the salary cap, and even before it only a handful of teams came close.

If teams played playoff style hockey in the regular season, by the time they hit the midway point, they would be comprised of their AHL team and prospects due to injuries. They are totally different games. And that doesn't make it a crap shoot. Seven game series require adapting and hockey smarts on the coaches part, and discipline and heart on the players part, as well as skill. Pettersson is an example of a regular season player. He needs to gain about 15 pounds and get a mean streak to be a playoff style player. This version of the Canucks overall is a better playoff style team than the 2011 version imo. They remind me more of the '94 team but even better than them.

That said, they can still get outplayed and lose. I'm just happy they finally have a Defense. If they can keep the power play going they have a good chance,

Great game, some serious goaltending on display and a great defensive effort all round by both teams. Got to nearly 70shots on goal with no goal in the 3rd, epic battle.

Well, done for another year, two cheap goals conceded and that will always get you in the end. Another disappointment

At least we have a new hockey fan....possible animal abuse getting her to support the Leafs though
