    The Death of Heavyweight Boxing

I searched for a boxing thread, went back six pages, and couldn’t find one.
Anybody watch the “Heavyweight” fight, between Tubby Tyson, and Francis Ngannou?

    Heavyweight boxing is on life-support.

Nobody can. It doesn't work. It's better to use Google to find a thread on TD. Sad but true.

Oh, you are still flogging this dead horse, I can see. I was never a fan, I cheered for him over Wilder because I despise him.

I will be fully backing Usyk if that fight actually ever happens. Personally, after this debacle, I think Fury will retire.

How much will Fury get paid to fight Usyk?

I suspect retiring with an "unbeaten" record is more important than the extra cash.

But if he does so, he will always be seen as running and hiding from a superior boxer - which is what he's been doing.

Fury didn't look like he could floor you after you had your bottle of rotgut much less anyone else.

All weight divisions are suffering due to the increased popularity of MMA. Fewer rules, more blood and the potential for serious injury is exciting for youngsters like Backspin and Eddie.

Plus they fight in a cage. More primitive!

Yes I am an old fart who grew up with boxing rules. Not interested in MMA at all, apart from the effect it has on a fairer contest.

UFC is a class above boxing.

It is also statistically safer than boxing.

Which is More Dangerous: Boxing or MMA?

I just rewatched the last Wilder v Fury fight and I reckon it was staged.
    Don't get that in MMA.

too many sanctioning bodies, too much bullshit.

i think Fury is a great fighter, and francis n a beast. Fury took him too lightly, its like hulk hogan and rocky.
dont think its due to MMA at all, as its easy to watch both.

but lack of A-grade fights in most divisions is the problem
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

Maybe. But I doubt Fury doesn’t bank one more bag before he retires in 1-2 years.

I never was a fan of Heavyweight. I find lightweight to middle weight much more entertaining especially the difference in speed.
