Banana skin averted.
Looks like the Bale transfer is having an effect already and he's not even playing. Spurs are 5-1 up against Southampton.
Four goals for Son with four Kane assists and one Kane goal.
Full time: Southampton 2-5 Tottenham
Another 7 goal PL match.
Strange game.
Son's equaliser at the stroke of half time was the first time a spurs player had touched the ball in the So-ton box.
Then Southampton just disintegrated.
Another high scoring game, Leicester 4 Burnley 2 so far and not a Vardy goal in sight...
Well Brighton have been all over Merchandise United like a cheap suit, so you can't say that hasn't been coming....
Brighton 1-0 Merch Utd (39').
Love the way Maupay was licking his lips before embarrasing De Gea.
Only lasted three minutes, but Ole doesn't look too happy.
1-1.
So, despite having had no pre season and struggling to get from one end of the pitch to the other, plucky Manchester United bagged their first 3 points of the season away at the in form Brighton and Hove Albion yesterday. True testament to the character instilled in his team by the great (Sir) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (MBE).
However, had the heroic Fernandes' penalty come back into play (from the post or the keeper saving it), what would have happened? Would a 2nd full time whistle immediately have been blown (treating the kick like one in a penalty shoot out) or would the referee have waited until the phase of play was over and allowed any rebound to be put in/blown up when the ball was cleared by Brighton.
Surely the latter?
But we do know. And can answer the question.
because the full-time whistle was blown after the incident and not before, and the incident took place in normal time. The VAR - Simon Hooper - was able to check, irrespective of the full-time whistle that followed.
As play had officially been brought to an end, Fernandes' penalty was the last kick of the game, so if Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan had saved it and the rebound was scored, it would not have counted.
IFAB Law 7.4 - On duration of match
If a penalty kick has to be taken or retaken, the half is extended until the penalty kick is completed.
IFAB Law 2 also states: "If at the end of the half, the referee leaves the field of play to go to the referee review area (RRA) or to instruct the players to return to the field of play, this does not prevent a decision being changed for an incident which occurred before the end of the half."

Really?

What part of that don't you understand?
I see Crystal Palace are moaning about the handball for the penalty that was given against them yesterday.
Turn it in, eh? Now you know how it feels to be Manchester United; often getting ridiculous penalties given against us and never getting the true number of spot kicks our twinkle-toed attackers deserve.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
That's a cracker.
Having watched all these dodgy handball decisions all weekend, it is clear the that PGMOL have left the handball rule deliberately vague (or their interpretation thereof) and thus are clear to assist the big teams as before.
Merchandise United were always the kings of getting penalty decisions in their favour.
Refs were/are probably scared of the manager running to the FA to get them removed from fixtures.
They aren't called the Moaners for nothing.
The rule change about subs walking off the pitch at the shortest point, instead of walking to the player coming on seems to have been completely ignored and forgotten about.
OK Sybil
So that didn't apply to Chelsea then.A statement from the IFAB reads: “‘Accidental’ handball by an attacking player (or team-mate) is only penalised if it occurs ‘immediately’ before a goal or clear goal-scoring opportunity.
“If an attacking player accidentally touches the ball with their hand or arm and the ball then goes to another attacking player and the attacking team immediately scores, this is a handball offence.
