British & Irish Lions to Australia

It's time for that hotly contested moment every 4 years when people try to guess who will be in the Lions squad to tour Australia.

Pseudolus has already thrown his toys out of the pram and announced his inavailability to tour based on the fact that there may be some players selected from the 2 time European Champions. Fair enough I say.

I'm not picking the Test team because that would be silly before the team has even played, so I'm picking my squad. There were some very good players who missed the 6N who people seem to have forgotten. I haven't so here's my squad subject to some demonstrations of fitness.

    Fullbacks: Leigh Halfpenny, Rob Kearney

Wings: George North, Tommy Bowe, Tim Visser, Alex Cuthbert

Centres: Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, Manu Tualagi, Brian O Driscoll

Fly Halves: Johnny Sexton, Owen Farrell

Scrum Halves: Mike Phillips, Danny Care, Ben Youngs

Props: Gethin Jenkins, Ryan Grant, Andrew Sheridan, Adam Jones, Dan Cole, Euan Murray

Hookers: Richard Hibbard, Dylan Hartley, Rory Best

Second-Rows: Richie Gray, Geoff Parling, Alun Wyn Jones, Paul O' Connell, Jim Hamilton

Flankers: Tom Croft, Sam Warburton (C), Sean O'Brien, Chris Robshaw

No 8s: Ben Morgan, Johnnie Beattie

There are a few players who have been hard done by, but that's life, I'm sure they'll forgive me.

    11 Welsh, 7 Irish, 11 English and 6 Scottish.

Who do you think should be going?

I had a chat with Eddie Butler earlier and he sent me over a squad of his choice.

Seems to be a bit closer to Pseudolus' nightmare.....

    Full-backs: Leigh Halfpenny, Stuart Hogg

Wings: George North, Sean Maitland, Tim Visser, Alex Cuthbert

Centres: Brian O'Driscoll (capt), Jamie Roberts, Jonathan Davies, Manu Tuilagi.

    Fly-halves: Jonathan Sexton, Dan Biggar

Scrum-halves: Mike Phillips, Ben Youngs, Lloyd Williams

Props: Gethin Jenkins, Mako Vunipola, Cian Healy, Adam Jones, Dan Cole, Paul James

Hookers: Ken Owens, Richard Hibbard, Ross Ford

Second-rows: Joe Launchbury, Geoff Parling, Alun Wyn Jones, Ian Evans, Donnacha Ryan

Flankers: Chris Robshaw, Justin Tipuric, Sam Warburton, Sean O'Brien

    No8s: Toby Faletau, Johnnie Beattie

I can't see Biggar going despite his recent play (swallows, summer and all that) and I think that Hogg could well edge Kearney.

Pick a fucking squad, don't sit there pontificating....

and yes Biggar isn't good enough, nor would Priestland have been if fit, and they areboth far better tens than James Hook before any idiot pipes up making a claim for his selection.....

I did make a minor mistake in my squad, I didn't mean to put Donnacha Ryan in. I meant to put Richie Gray or Jim Hamilton, but I meant to check on the injury situation. In fact I meant to look at my whole second row situation before pressing post but forgot.

I have no edited it.... Ian Evans is very unlucky to miss out, but I was intimidated by pseudolus into thinking I should reduce the number of Welsh people in the side.

I think I may try to find a place for Chris Ashton as well, maybe defence in drills, so that nobody gets tackled and hurt.

Ashton and Brown on defense for drills training. Will be great confidence booster for those running through and around them too.

I will not have a word said against Eddie Butler. He bought me a pint in Bergamo, Italy when my local team played in the European Cup Winners' Cup. Anybody who buys me a pint is a good egg.
Why can't I make new posts?

Never heard of the bloke but then again I never read newspapers nor am interested in post match reports.

Wales played out of their skins and as a team on their home turf and I doubt that the selectors will base their Lions team selection on just one game.

He was the man talking throughout the whole game.... former Welsh Captain, Lion. and well respected journalist (as opposed to Stephen Jones, who's selection I will look out for).

Oh and I also discounted Alex Corbisiero from selection as I thought he wasn't going to be fit, but I now believe that may not be true.

Gatland of course may not pick anyone with injury issues, which would discount several I have picked. If Lydiate was to throw himself into the mix, then you can drop Robshaw from my squad which would be tough on the England captain who is a very good player in my opinion. Can't see it though, Lydiate doesn't have much time to prove himself after such a long injury.

Any suggestions regarding the Australian team Bob?

We have also suffered a few serious injuries.

Eddie Buttler is a very entertaining after dinner speaker, apart from that his opinions are shite......

Not really.... They only just into season, they'll have some players step up..... they'll probably lose someone to injury as will we before the time.

I doubt you are going to find a decent pair of props in time though.

End of April, lots could happen before then.

To be honest, I quite like the look of your squad. Miles better than Butler's abortion.

Will they have to contribute 10 quid towards their airfare?

I will not have a word spoken against Stephen Jones. We used to get pissed and sing in the London Welsh club after the home games. Squeak played the piano. Unfortunately, Stephen, unlike Eddie Butler, never bought me a pint.

No one else capable of actually naming a squad......?

I bet those who don't will be the ones whining when it's announced or claiming they knew that would happen.

Eddie Butler is a kunt. Hope you told him that from me.

Anyway, all these fricking pansies scared to put themselves on the record

    Fullbacks: Leigh Halfpenny, Rob Kearney

Wings: George North, Tim Visser, Alex Cuthbert, Christian Wade

Centres: Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, Manu Tualagi, 36

Fly Halves: Johnny Sexton, Johnny Wilkinson

Scrum Halves: Mike Phillips, Danny Care, Ben Youngs

Props: Gethin Jenkins, Ryan Grant, Andrew Sheridan, Adam Jones, Dan Cole, Euan Murray

Hookers: Richard Hibbard, Dylan Hartley, Rory Best

Second-Rows: Richie Gray, Geoff Parling, Alun Wyn Jones, Paul O' Connell, Jim Hamilton

Flankers: Turmeric, Sam Warburton , Sean O'Brien, Tom Wood (C)

No 8s: Ben Morgan, Gareth Delve

There you go. No chance Croft should go by the way. An lumbering Sam with the captaincy is madness after he only returned to form when he had it removed.
