85 years ago Orson Welles created what was possibly the first major case of fake news in the media when he broadcast his version of HG Wells' story "War of the Worlds", and allegedly caused widespread panic of people who heard the radio broadcast and actually believed alien monsters had arrived here. Nowadays we get bombarded with fake news all the time, but some people still believe it some of the time.
And of course, alien invasions have become a staple of sci-fi tv and movies....Apple's current "invasion" series for a start. Luckily nobody believes that is for real....do they?
