Apart from 20 minutes of cartoons in the morning.
My kids will have nothing to do with the television anymore.
I carn't say it's a bad thing as it's mostly shite.
With the availability of the Internet and most kids having tablets/pcs/phones etc, I forsee the end of television in a decade or two.
In the UK you must pay by law £12.50 per month just to own a t.v!
Even if you don't watch it!
Don't know what it's like around the world, but I reckon the final days of TV are in the post and with it the BBC news, the Queens speech at Christmas and the Antiques Roadshow. ...

Good question in this day and age, they must naturally assume every household has one and must pay. I think it's up to the householder to say they don't.
Years ago they used to send weird looking t.v detector vans out on the streets training their detector aerials at suspect houses.
Then send the licence fee inspector to your house to search it and prosecute, seems almost archaic typing this.

It was exactly the same in our house, we hardly watched television any more, and most of what was programmed was not appealing or a repeat.
Cancelled the Sky dish contract along with the BBC license fee.
Life is much better without T.V.
It's been replaced by computer games and the availability to watch anything you want on YouTube.
Even the Play Station 4 box plugged into a large flat screen allows access to YouTube

It's not plugged into any TV cable, so it cannot receive TV signals or cable. Only plugged into the two games consoles.
That was one of the reasons we gave up TV because it was being used for games.

There is something called Amazon Fire Stick, which is changing everything. Competitors include Google Chromecast, and Apple TV. General idea, content is routed via the internet to your TV.

Right now, the number of live tv stations is limited, but expectations are this will change. Much cheaper than traditional cable or dish. It also offers plenty of gaming, movie downloading, and downloading of specific episodes of regular tv shows (after the episodes have been shown on the regular networks).

Yes, the downloading of stuff from the net to watch on your "screen" has been going on for years, but this really takes it to another level.

Not true. The TV license is to view terrestrial broadcasts and streamed content.
If you tell them you use your TV only for DVD movies, internet and games you don't have to pay the fee. Did that myself.

Anyway as to your OP I totally disagree. Can't speak about other nations but in the US with fiber availability & ultra high speed internet, ultra HD television programming, 3D, streaming capabilities, digital effects, etc... "TV" is going to go the opposite of what you say.

TV is sure going away, channels start struggle as newspapers did a decade back before going out of biz...

Physically TV are changing as well, becoming thin as paper sheet soon and then it will be nothing but a projected 3D hologram, coming in few years only all this.

So we will have fantastic technology, wisdom storage about anything you can question, but mainly we will watch recorded cats doing "funny" things.

Actually, they can't enter and search without your permission. You don't have to let them in. There are a few videos on Youtube about it of people refusing to let them in.

I stopped watching TV in 2004 a couple of months before the US election, because it was such a bad way to get information.

(I've never been into sit-coms of TV shows).

I only watched sports and now I watch that on the computer.

No, it's not. BROADCAST TV is going away, not TV. It's changing, not disappearing, although I suppose that once some reach a certain age that can seem like the same thing. BTW, over half the countries in the world have TV licencing, it's hardly limited to the UK.

I never watch TV. I unhooked the cable in my bedroom 8 years ago. Too many commercials, plus shit programming. Cable is still hooked up to the other 7 Tvs in the house though.
