Same with Aging One and BG. I know no Americans or Canucks who use gravy granules to make gravy. Like BG says, you can make gravy from almost any roast/fried meat except precooked ham roasts, but then I just serve that with home-made apple sauce. If I bake chicken, I use those drippings for gravy, too. Cholesterol high. Yum.
I think we had a gravy thread before (or we sabotaged another thread). Sorry Hillbilly.
Then I guess there aren't any.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

^ Of course. They know Euros love them.
I suppose someone will have to teach you Americans how to make hash browns that actually taste nice and the proper way to cook them.
Boil your potatoes and then mash them, whose got the time or patience to use a bloody grater and wait till they cool, fry your onions, chuck some chopped garlic and chili peppers in the pan, curry powder, salt and pepper all over the mash, once the onions and that are cooked chuck them in with the mash and mash it some more, bit of cooking oil on some tinfoil and put all your mashed up stuff in a lump on that, you can make it into a nice shape like I did but it seems a bit pointless as it turns into a broken mess when you try to get it on the plate after 15 minutes in the oven.
Hash Browns, this doesn't look too bad does it
My next experiment is going to be to pretend that this hash brown is a pizza base and I shall be trying different toppings with it, could be quite good
twice baked potatoes are not...
Ah fuck it. He is English, why do I bother.
Ya, and he burned them, too. What to expect from folks who crave baked beans on toast.
England and America are two countries separated by a common language, less hash browns.
They are not burned jet, the bits that look black are really dark green, ie darker than juniper green chili pepper skins.....
^Oh. Are they the chili bits?
Yes, a very large dark, dried, chopped up chili to spice it up a bit.
fookin 'ell DD, and you renamed one of my cooking threads a few years back.
pot kettle black.
Double mashed, double baked, flock its a lot easier just to eat the friggin raw potato. Fer Crisake we're talkin HASH browns, not double mashed potato pancakes!
E. G.
This may be upsetting for the Yanks but I made some more hash browns no unhealthy frying in oil for me, yep boiled, mashed and then baked, think next time I will bake, then make a tomato base, ie ketchup and a few slices of tomato, maybe some grated cheese, some mushrooms, few slices of bell peppers etc, then a few more minutes baking, should make quite a nice hash brown
Please take note, I got it on the plate in one piece
^ That one IS burned. And that ketchup sauce sounds pretty gross....
Hash browns are American, ketchup is American, sounds like a good old American traditional meal to me
And its slightly singed, not burnt...
^ Is ketchup American? Heinz? What about catsup?
