    Coffee

Out of all the Asian countries any of you have traveled to, which had the best coffee in your opinion?

They are such different beverages in different places that it is hard to compare. I really enjoy the Kaffe Boran here in Thailand. I make it almost every day.

The really strong French-style coffee in Vietnam (and Laos) can also be excellent.

For regular brewed coffee of high quality nothing beats the specialty coffee houses (kissaten) in Japan: wonderful aroma, acid-free rich flavor and cream so rich that it seems to explode as you pour it in the hot brew. Of course, at four or five dollars a cup it better be good.

(And, nothing goes better with it than a lightly toasted slice of that big pullman style bread they have smothered in melted butter.)

Are you thinking of the kind they make with coffee that is ground into an extremely fine powder? They usually put this into a glass with a little milk and sugar or condensed milk, add boiling water and stir. When the grounds settle it's ready to drink.

    Also very good.

No, the one I like is from Java - quite coarsely ground and usually served black.

The condensed milk coffee in Laos is quite good though.

    How do they brew?

The fine ground one I was talking about is from Bali and, I think, Java as well.

NOrmally I don't drink coffee but after I tasted Capucino Flappe at 7-11 on Motorway, Chonburi. I fall in love with it.

Oh.. we have coffee here as well but just know my taste.

I'll have to give the local coffee a whirl - it sounds quite good, but for now I'll stick with my Assam & Kenya tea which has just arrived courtesy of Kenkannif's mum (I love you KK's mum )
