Question Do you have an Issan Dog Recipe

The Mrs. is feeling homesick and hankering for a bit of man's best friend Issan Style (in the pot) so if anyone has a good recipe that favors soi dog especially, please pass it on and list it here.

    Thanks,

    PP

No recipe for an Isan pot-meal, I am afraid.

Best to cut the meat into thin slices, sun-dry for a day and grill, IMO. You can make some Isan-style Nam-Prik to dip it in. Goes with raw and steamed greens and sticky rice, of course.

Was this thread inspired by the letter in todays Bangkok post detailing the treatment of dog's bound for the pot ?

Apparently being bludgeoned to death tenderises the meat.

Dog Adobo- stewed with soy, liberal garlic and ginger. Not really Thai, but suits the meat well, especially if it's a mangy soi dog.
Serve with plain or sticky rice, some plain veg + maybe shrimp paste on the side.

I trust this isn't your Husky?

No, the pesky soi dog who keeps coming into my house via the fence to steal her toys and bones. We've had enough and she wants to try out her new slow cooker/crock pot.

    No, I've seen it.

I've heard though, that pistonpilot has a reputation for being a massive troll & this is far too blatant to even bother responding to.

If, however, he is the sort of person who would look for a pedigree dog for himself, yet happily eat its less fortunate cousin, then he's beneath my contempt, anyway.

Either way, not worth a rant.

The cousin's name is Sparky - I named him. I sort of take care of him at least I'm the one here who takes him to the vet. Sparky fights so when he came to me with a nasty bite wound, I took him to the vet and had them cut off his balls at the same time they treated the wound.

The problem is, that he still attacks dogs and cats and I watched him go after a cat last night and a small dog last week. I knew better than try to grab him off the dog but waited until he took a break then held him so the other dog could get away.

That's where the idea of stewing him came from - I just can't stop him from hurting the other animals. I really care for Sparky but he must be sacrificed to keep the other animals safe.

We've got everyone here for Make a Bucha day (more like make a butcher day) including her toothless good for nothing father. I found a use for him, he goes across the river to Laos for dog and knows how to cook it. I thought it was a bit like hunting or fishing - why kill it and then not use it.

Can't think of a use for Sparky beyond the large crockpot I bought my wife to cook our own baby food and spark will just about fit into two crockpots so there will be leftovers.

Look, I'm not eating him but I'm not speaking for the rest of the bumpkins as they are used to it. Shit, I have caught my father in law on more than one occassion giving my husky the eye and I told him he'd have to cough up 15,000 baht and a heap of money just to keep me from killing him if he ever took it to the next level.

My husky is going to lose her friend but the neighborhood will be safer because of it. It's ok as far as Karma is concerned and it was only my idea, I'm not executing it or him.

I'm not exactly feeling really good about the whole thing but I'm just waking up and I'm hoping it's done already. They all came back from the Wat at 11 AM and Sparky always comes for food about 1.

    I'll miss him.

I have feelings for Sparky and they're not the same as I have for a plate of Mexican. It pains me but I also can't stand watching him hurt the other animals.

Only recipe I have is from the PI that they use, starve the dog down for a week, just a water diet, then give him a big bucket of boiled rice and when he has ate all he can hold, beat him to death with a club, throw him in a fire to burn the hair off and then roast him and you have Rice stuffed roast pooch.

I slept all day as I am usually up at night. Sparky is gone and I will miss him. I will not be eating him. I'm an American; we don't eat dogs.

We have a super cute baby human sleeping upstairs. He's almost 11 months old. We are Americans in this house - we don't eat our pets or children.

Still applies - we are American's in this house, we don't eat other children.
