My first curry batch since I started trying to bump my protein.
So 1st step was to triple the amount of chicken going in.
Tomatoes are good so go all in with usual 2 tins.
Coconut cream and dairy cream have the same protein (basically none) but coconut has only 20g of fat versus 53g for cream per 100ml. Thought I would do a nice Stumpy pouring shot just for the DOOR...
My final trick was to substitute pea protein for the flour that I normally use as a thickener.
It takes a bit more pea protein, 60g for a batch vs 40g of flour, due to the lesser thickening properties of pea but that is good because you are getting to dial up the protein percentage.
I like the look of that curry, Loops.
Nonetheless, I'm a tad worried that you might be turning into one of those metrosexual beings...
Is pea protein something Mendip invented?
^^Being nutritionally aware is a tad on the non-blokish side of sustenance Betty, but I am currently exploring whether my diet could benefit from protein pumping. I have to say that after overcoming initial protein headaches for a couple of days at the start that I have a kind of spidey-tingling-sensation in my brain cranium and I have smashed through the elusive 2900 puzzles barrier for the first time on Chess.com
So I am going to persist with the pea protein pumping for the time being and see if I can crack that 3000
You can choose Pea or Whey when it come to protein. Whey is generally yummier and more expensive and works well in sweeter dishes. But Pea has more protein and works well in selected savoury dishes.
This is my sneaky way of cranking it up with no meal, which Dilly Dingle suggested.
You can get 30g of protein in a milk shake this way.
^ Not guilty.
In fact I've never heard of pea protein before. I can't understand why people don't just eat peas instead of this newfangled modern stuff.
It's made from field peas, and has got most of the other stuff removed, so is around 80% protein.
The delicious green peas you are rather fond of come in at around 5-6% protein. Though I'm sure you wouldn't say no to a nice bowl of yellow field peas if PJG offered you a breakfast delivery service.
My sister's birthday care package comprised a selection of wines which I look forward to slooshing and gargling in a manner befitting a sozzled sommelier
I got my health freak on at the supermarket with a huge bag of spinach which I paired with a jumbo can of tuna
Add some chopped tomatoes and capsicum
Add a generous 1/2 bottle of Caesar dressing, toss vigorously and serve...
You opened and consumed your sisters birthday pressie?
Happy Birthday Loops, may the next trip around the sun involve plenty of flag collecting.
^I feared 2023 was going to be a flag washout until Tiny Thai Tak Lady turned the tables of fortune in Q3
Get your protein pump on with pure chicken breast
Spice it up with Moroccan spice and mixed herbs
5 minutes on one side on high then 15 minutes on low heat. Cover the pan to keep the moisture in and keep those breasts tender and juicy and then box it up in a sealed container.
^I might need to get one of them probes. But for now I am winging it.
The second pic was right after the 5 minute flip so they are still well raw.
But another 15 minutes with a lid on got me well over the line judging by the interior colour and texture.
I'm glad you're still with us.
I've completely removed chicken from my diet.
^What is wrong with Chicken Dirk?
I am not up to date on the latest health warnings
Classic Chicken Caesar tonight but with healthy leafy greens
Better than tuna and I remembered to get some Parmesan to sprinkle this time
I might add some chopped boiled egg tomorrow as I just remembered that was in it too when I learned this dish working as a cook in a gay Mexican restaurant in Vancouver 30 years ago
Oh yeah and bacon bits.... Bollix I haven't got any
^
Some cheesy croutons wouldn't go amiss either.
^Yeah, them too.
Crunched some numbers on cost effective protein consumption for TeakDOOR protein freaks edification
The following numbers are AUD spend required to deliver 1 KG of protein.

They are all low carb foods so carb numbers are ignored

I recall in my youth compiling a similar table for my mates, but that was for the much more fun pursuit of best bottles of booze to buy at the bottle-o to get the cheapest possible alcohol and biggest bang for buck.
Ho hum... now I am in my early dotage and compiling sober tables on protein
The alcohol table was not a trivial calculation as you needed to factor in price * random container volumes * alcoholic content
Nowadays they make it too easy for kids by printing the $/100ml on the shelf label so the work is cut in half. Back in my day it all had to be done on the back of a cigarette packet by hand and was a feat for which a nerdishly minded fella like myself could gain peer group kudos.
Don't let that fat ratio on nuts put you off as most nut fat passes through.
Skimmed milk is probably your cheapest protein, but who wants to drink 4 pints of that a day.
