    I made wine

So following someones recipe/advice on here (thanks whoever) and a bit of googling I decided to give it a shot. I did two bottles. Half a litre of apple juice (from concentrate, sans preservative) a cup of sugar, a teaspoon of dry yeast activated in some tepid water, and topped it up with water. I thoroughly dissolved the sugar in the juice before putting it in the bottle. I used glad wrap, applied loosely to allow for gas expansion held on with a rubber band.

Initially I put corks in but one blew out with force within a couple of hours.

They sat in the back of a cupboard for a month and when I retrieved them one was clear and bright the other cloudy.
The clear one was delicious, kind of a sparkly sensation to drink and quite alcoholic.
The cloudy one was awful. I threw it out. I don't think the yeast worked.
One thing I noticed is that the yeast doesn't seem to bloom if you use a metal bowl, that's been my experience anyway. I thought I'd bought faulty yeast at first but as soon as I switched to crockery it worked.
The picture here is of two that I put down on the 28th of last month.
On the 4th of last month I decided to have another go.

    5 litres,

This weekend I thought I'd give the red a shot so a packet of yeast, 1 kilo of sugar, 4 litres of grape juice (from concentrate, sans preservative) and a couiple of litres of spring water.
Lets see how this goes. (8 litres)

The plastic bag on top had no air in it to begin. It filled up in about 6 hours. I can't really see what's going on in their but their seems to be some sort of community.

I don't know what's going on with the pic. It's the same as all the others on my phone and comp.
Just turn your monitor on its side.
    Mod, help?

The worlds major wineries will now be crapping themselves now that China will no longer be importing, instead making their own.

You are a scoundrel Cujo an utter scoundrel.

You can make wine with anything but maybe it's cider or something. Either way, the one succesful bottle so far was very nice, slightly sparkly and refreshing.
You'll notice the latest batch is from grape juice.
    Any suggestions are welcome buttplug.

next time try a distilled-type of beverage. Much easier to do
    .
    Explanation please.
Wouldn't that require building a still?

    ^ That's from Jeff I bet.

He loves to give advice like that but give no detail

What's the ABV of this moonshine?

    Have you got a hydrometer?

No hydrometer so no idea. The only bottle I've drunk so far seemed like a strong wine.
Might have to look at getting a hydrometer.

Those who dabble in the creation of novelty alcoholic beverages and yet don't have any such curiosities or efforts into alternatives - shouldn't bother.

Sounds like you have been in prison to me. Who would make something like that unless they had no access to booze?

And ORANGES ? FOJ will be along shortly to give you a good talking to.

by the way, I googled whats the difference between apple wine and cider.

Apple cider—hard apple cider, that is—is made by crushing apples and fermenting the juice. ... Apple wine isn't radically different. It's essentially the same process, but requires more sugar.

Right. So using the wine making process but using apples instead of grapes what will you end up with?

Fucking snobs. Carry on, cujo. Drink that homemade plonk with pride. No need to pour that sulfite laden store bought stuff down your neck.

And another thing - wine only from grapes? Fucking reductionists. You could bloody well make a jalapeño wine if you were so inclined. Why, I had a gorgeous few glasses of wine made from hibiscus and roses just last week.

Distilling is more than a bit more technical. Homemade wine takes no special equipment, about five minutes effort, and a month's wait.
