That pie filling looks superb.
Looks good. Mendy might even approve with those peas.
^ Yeah, it was fine by me.
^ that is one of the best pics I have seen of a pie. While I wouldn't ever eat one, every time I saw Mendy's Pie pic and the liquid running all over and 2 bags of peas I verp'd a bit. There simply has to be better meals available.... :)

Bought that coaster for Mendy:)
Bought or lifted?
Today was a cod loin in a parsley sauce day. Usually I have this with mashed potato, but discovered there wasn't a potato in sight. Got creative and made a carrot puree instead, incorporating caramelised onion.
The onion being fried in a mix of butter and brown sugar whilst the carrot was being boiled.

Drained as much oil from the onion as possible, and pureed together with the carrot and some chopped parsley using a hand blender. Tasted quite good, with the sweetness going well with the quite bland parsley sauce of the cod.

The parsley sauce is only a basic bechamel, though I added some sour cream, some of the fish cooking water, and fresh lemon juice. The fish was brought to the boil in a pan of water with a sliced lemon in it. Simple meal but really tasty.

Very nice PAG, as always.
^^ Lovely as usual
You sure you were in the SAS and not the cookhouse?:)

Nice looking lunch for sure. No, RM not SAS. My first exposure to cooking was turning the gas on at a certain time having come home from school so the potatoes and veg my Mum had prepared before she went to work were kind of ready when she got home from work. Apart from that, what you could do mix and match with a 24 hour individual dehydrated Arctic ration pack became a source of inspiration.

10/10 for presentation.
Cod in parsley sauce was a childhood favourite of mine.
Although it was that boil in the bag stuff.
Not had it for decades, very inspiring.
Steak cheese and bacon pie, sausage roll in the background. Photo quality, 1.5 from 10. Taste, simply delicious.

As part of a fridge clear out yesterday, ready for M'Sahib's forage of Makro, Big C and Lotus today, made some vegetable soup. Predominately broccolli, carrot, onion and garlic, some chilli powder, then some coconut milk and sour cream added.
Knocked up some fresh croutons this morning, from a baguette that was in the freezer. Diced up the bread, and in a bowl mixed some olive oil and grated parmesan.

15 minutes at a high temperature in the oven and they're ready. Golden and crisp.

^ Nice PAG... it almost puts my lunch to shame.
This wasn't the best lunch I've ever cobbled together but to be fair, probably wasn't the worst either.

^Ok mate we've definitely hit rock bottom when the local cheese infused hotdogs are the star of the dish :)
Is this the drunk food thread?
^Pretty sure he's getting some work done so he wouldn't be on the sauce before lunch would he?

An easy mistake to make.
Such is my skill, I can produce 'drunk' food even when sober.
And FYI, these 'cheese infused hotdogs' as HW calls them are in fact top of the range of this type of thing and come individually wrapped in their own plastic wrapping.
And I remembered to take the plastic off before microwaving!
Steak and ale pie, lush...
